I would also like to go with TATA Safari as it is much better looking and more over the best thing about this one is that it is very spacious then the Scorpio.

My chocie from both of these would be TATA SAfari as Safari has better design, it is more spacious and the best thing is that you dont feel the pot holes as you feel in Scorpio.

TATA Safari is the King and i dont think that Scorpio can comptete it in any way. Scorpio rules the road and this SUV segement.

I like TATA Safari looks and it is good looking then Mahindra scorpio is and also there is not that much of a big price difference... so safari is a better choice.

Like all members i also liked Safari as it is big, good looking and strong car. It does have a little more maintenance cost but still i would say that it is good and is much better then Scorpio.

i am also with tata safari it is much better than mahindra scorpio especially the new safari dicor is a way ahead of scorpio

safari has much better looks than scorpio, especially the back side of safari looks awsome compared to scorpio or any other SUV

tata safari has excellent suspension system for smooth ride and ofcourse for offroading especially on UP roads.

the only drawback of tata safari is that it has only a mere 2.0 litre engine for its massive size and weight where as compared with scorpio is sports a 3.0 liter engine. In terms of power safari is a bit sluggish than scorpio.

and one other negative with safri is its poor turning radius, there will be a traffic jam if you are making a harder turn for eg.180 degree turn.

Thumbs up Safari All The Way

Being a Tata Safari Club member I have no choices really
I have tried Scorpio and I will admit it happily that it does not give me the
comfort and the feel, which I get from my Safari. Biased I maybe, but if you
have tried them both, you will definitely agree with me.

Safari looks better, but i heard its not too comfortable or big inside, where as the Scorpio doesn't look as good but its good and better than the Safari from the inside (Scorpio looks better in black and also when it is done up)

if we are comparing safari and scorpio only then my vote goes for safari... as i like looks of this car...

but if we can include innova in list then my vote goes to innova only.. as i like the looks, balance, comfort and milage of innova...

Frankly, I don't like the innova. Safari or Grand Vitara would do the trick.

That is the difference between young men of today and oldies like me. Generation gap, man!!

My father would have never gone beyond M-800. To him that would be the limit of his luxury (even if he had more money). I am thinking so many times before deciding about 2nd car (Innova or Civic). I have seen young people in my office driving Optra Magnums, Safaris, etc. (majority is always Swift's, Santro's, Zen Estillo's, Wagon R's and such cars). One even has a Civic. All are 30-35 age group.

I would say not to buy any vehicle from TATA, this is what i learnt from my experince. (Recently bought a tata safari Dicor 2.2)

Tata is the best example of how to spoil a good design (Tata Safari)

It took long 6 years to realize the tata engineers that it needs an indicator on ORVM

Scorpio is much better than Safari on engine refinement, Transmission and service. Only plus points for Safari is the looks and space. poor refinement, low quality plastics and Pathetic service is always a problem for Safari (Tata is saying that they are giving high priority to Safari owners for service... think about other cars.....)

Default Scorpio now comes with Micro hybrid Technology

I've always loved Scorpio. It looks much more Butch than Safari and when it comes to roughing it out on a vehicle, Scorpio can take more punishment.

As a person who does car about environmental problems, I think the Micro hybrid Technology (which comes with the new 2009 Mahindra Scorpio) is a very good concept.

Might as well turn the engine off when it is running unnecessarily.

As far as looks are concerned the Mighty Muscular Scorpio is the Muscle Man among the Indian SUV's.

Default Scorpio is the male vehicle

Scorpio is the male vehicle. No matter how good Safari is, it is not capable of what Scorpio can do. Mahindra vehicles are made for ruggedness. Safari will always be delicate as compoared to Scorpio

TATA has limitations in its service and trouble shooting in their authorised centers incl Concorde Motors, but scorpio has many defects at delivery itself.
The Scorpio is quieter because it has an anti Vibration unit in the engine bay.
The Scorpio has lower gearratios in the lower gears so it has an awesome pickup.
Plus Points for the Safari are too many compared to the Scorpio - SAFETY, SPACE, COMFORT , HANDLING - its awesome in country roads absolutely delightful balanceand rock steady on the highway .
My 2.2 gives me 12.5 to 14.5 km / L - I am not complaing about my car - but TATA MOTORS has to train its service network much better .

Mahindra because of there Jeep/Chrysler association in the past, have an edge in terms of technology when it comes to 4-wd, off-roading capabilities, etc. The Scorpio definitely excels in this area. And it is slightly cheaper also.

However, one must look at what features one desires. The choice will immediately present itself.

well i'm usin safari from one year, it's true that it have alots of complaint wth this clutch hardning problem, unwanted noise from interior, due to its poor quality. Very big issue is that it have hydraulic power sttering, oil leekage is the big problem.

Tata Safari is a royal SUV. I would vote for Tata Safari. Mahindra Scorpio is a stunning performer but it's excessive use for commercial purpose has lowered it's dignity.

    Hi Ashish Sehgal
No doubt Tata Safari is amazing SUV but new on wards this cars has to face very tough competition form the Mahindra XUV500 which is far better then safari in terms of price, mileage and maintenance in fact this XUV500 has almost crashed the market of other suv's. See Tata Safari has a main drawback which is its high maintenance and service charge and another is its mileage.

This post is over 3 years old and at that time the Mahindra XUV500 did not exist. It will be better to start a new thread on that. For the present, let us stick with the original subject.
