Its been some time ive been hearing noises about this 1lakh car and recently saw a few pictures on television.. If I remember correctly it is supposed to come in the market in a few months time ..

So what do you guys think about this car .. apart from the looks the specs look particularly bad and if you look at it from my perspective .. Tata has fitted a car chasis on to a bike's engine.

Tata nana is also supposed to have airconditioning and heating in upper models but the engine is still going to be the same small one. Have you ever drive the old Maruti 800 with an airconditioner? I used to have one of these and I am being serious.. either you run the car or the AC on that 800 cc engine.

Tata nano's engine is jus too small for a car and I dont see any future for this car here in India atleast.

What do you guys think.. I have sold all my tata motors stocks long ago when I first saw the car's specs in January and I was one of those lucky ones who sold off before the markets fell Laughed all the way to my bank

Tata Nano will sell (and sell a lot) initially. The sale may subside later. As you said that the specs are not "really up there" - but I suppose, what can one expect at 1 lakh?

However, I do think that it will good car for small city commutes (less than 10 km one way).

As you correctly mentioned (with the analogy to M800) - it is either run the AC or run the car - but not both.

It wont cost less then 1.25 Lakhs on road and for that amount one can easily get a Maruti alto with aircon in a very good condition...

The only thing I see happening is that the resale value of small cars like Hundai santro, maruti alto, Chevy spark and some other small cars will come down substantially.

Yes this nano thing will sell but you wont see these nano's like you see maruti's on roads right now and the simple reason being there is nothing special about this nano car and the milage is not too good either as compared to other small cars.

I really wish nano sells but the facts are telling an entirely different tale.

TATA's NANO is Best Car Small & Simple. All people are waiting for that Car But when it's running on road.

anyone got info about new TATA car costing around Rs 85 lac... read it in newspaper that they doing it jointly with Jaguar and Landrover.....

i think that TATA NANO will sell really well

think of the ppl who are having a family and need to go outing on bike with one kid in the front and other in between and then when it rains

ppl will get loan on the car and every body will have a car instead of bike, all the roads will have bigger jams and more travel time but every body will have a car.

as far as i know many other companies are also trying to enter the 1 lakh segment

When you are paying 1 lakh for a car i think ppl will understand that you will not get climate control with it, it is just four wheels, a cover on the head and 4 seats

Just a simple question..

If you will ask anybody abt the car, everyone gonna say..its a good car, good concept, economical, will be a huge hit and so on....but my question is to all the member of this forum is..When you are aware that this gonna be a huge sucess, How many of us have actually booked this car??

The answer will be shocking.......

I havent booked it and I dont know anyone who has. if it runs ok on cng then Delhi is going to have a lot of them in my opinion and also LPG if givernment continues with the subsidy.

I am always aiming high, i plan to book Merc S class this year and i will end up booking a i10 or swift

If i aim for booking a nano, then i will end up walking to work
If i have the money why would i book nano, if i can effort a better car, but when ppl cannot afford i10 or even maruti 800 then they can go for nano

sad to say but like i always said india cant take the load of so many cars. wait watch and see whats gonna happen... theres gonna be a CAR BANG!!

i agree with you and that is the reason Nana and tata is being criticized.
I stay in bangalore and here already with out the nano there are 800 vehicles registered every day. what will happen after that

yup imagine if there are a million freeking cars sold on day one of its launch... where the heck wud there be people to walk. and there wud obviously be clone-ism running around...

it wud be a repetition of the same kind every where and just too many.

tata has told ppl that in every city it is not going to sell more than 5000 nanos per year to keep the traffic down, but how much they live up to this is to wait and watch

5000 nanos are good enough to cause a few more traffic jams!!

c i aint against this car... if it were possible i wud have bought one as well but our streets cant take it and so thats y i dont want to invest money in something i wont get satisfaction out of.

I think they mean to say that if they run their plant on full capacity for a year they will only be able to supply 5000 cars per city. Once the sales take off they will start expanding their manufacturing capacity and then next year say only 10000 cars per city.. well the problem is that this nano is going to create havoc all over India.. Infrastructure in India ve way behind of our times and needs a serious effort at improving and that too urgently.
