I am a Tata Indicom Broadband use in Bangalore. First of all getting their service if a big pain. I wanted a fast connection to work from home through VPN. I contacted them through their website. They called me back exactly after 3 weeks and said one of their reps would called me within 72 hours. It seems people in Tata have watches made in mars. So ultimately this person calls and gives me the connection in another 5 days. I opted for a 256 kbps, 1 gig transfer plan. The speed was definitely better than may cable internet, gprs in my 9300 and reliance Data card.

I dont know who is to blame here, VSNL or TATA. Tata should NOT have mereged with VSNL and pick uo their bad service. Its like Aston Martin merging with KIA motors. The billing is worst thing. When use a lot, they charge 0MB for that day and on days when i dont use even for a minute they charge for 150MB. But at the end it all settles to average.

Also they have a strange system for payments. None of the automated payment sites like BillJunction, CITIBANK autopay allows you to pay for TATA Indicom Services. They take cash ONLY in their HO at WhiteFields. And if your payment is late by even a day, they disconnect services, without even calling and the re-connection time would vary from 5-10 days. Next month i paid well in advance to avoid disconenction, they disconnected again, and when called they said since the payment for last month was late, they ’’thought’’ this month it would be late too and that why they disconnected service. Isnt that a strange reason to disconnect services? Well....
