    Default Tata Indicom - NO....NO....NO...

    Tata Indicom in my experience is the worst telecom service provider I have had the misfortune to be associated with. Earlier the problem was with the wireless “Walky” that I subscribed to. The “fast” speeds promised by them proved to be a fast one. The connection besides being pathetically slow used to drop so frequently it wasn’t funny. All their customer service desk had to offer by way of explanation is that due to the phenomenal response, their servers are choked and it is in the process of upgradation “as we speak”. Besides, their bills never reached on time and they used to keep suspending the outgoing calls facility. Fed up with all this, I asked them to refund the deposit and take away their instrument. They disconnected the line after 5-6 reminders but the refund is yet to happen even after 5 months. The instrument is still lying with me.

    Then there was the broadband saga. I assumed (to my misfortune) that the “Walky” experience was an exception, after all “Tata” is one of the most trusted brands in India – but I guess all good things have to come to an end. A pamphlet was dropped at my residence which talked of a free installation. I fell for it. I called the mobile number given on the card and the next day itself a Joker came by. I call him Joker because he did not understand the concept of Kbps, LAN card, DSL, RJ 45 connectors etc. The only thing he knew was that he was selling a Tata internet connection. Still trusting the Tata brand name, I selected a plan and gave him a cheque for 3 months. This was a prepaid plan. The installation was supposed to happen within 2 days. 2 weeks later I have not heard from Tata Indicom, other than a call verifying my address.

    Last week when I called the Joker to ask him when the installation would be done, he said the network was not clear. He hung up and did not call back. I called back around 25 times, but he used to either switch off his cell or not take the call. Persisting, I called from another number. He promptly took the call. I blasted him. He was not fazed. He said he was not in charge of installation but I took the number of his DSA office. That number is constantly engaged. I send a mail to Tata Indicom’s service desk, but no reply yet. Not even an auto reply acknowledging receipt of my mail. Needless to say I am still waiting for Tata Indicom’s revert.

    My strong recommendation to one and all is to never make the mistake to signing on with Tata Indicom.

    BTW...the lowest rating one can here is poor....how does one rate piss poor?

    Default Disgusting service from TATA Indicom Broadband

    TATA Indicom is a very bad internet connection provider. They are providing connecting to numerous people without considering their capability and bandwidth. As a result access speed is very low ... it comes down to 80 BPS very often ... unbelievable huh? Can anybody imagine to have speed in 2-digit kbps where actually broadband should have speed in mbps?

    Indication of speed provided by TATA Indiaom is also wrong. When some file is downloaded at 10 kbps and with no other parallel access in internet, TATA Indicom is showing the speed as some 100 kbps ... how much they are deluding? They are faking by giving incorrect data ... a speed which is 10 times to the actual one.

    Disconnection is part of life while using this internet service. How inconvenient and irritating it can be when connection goes off in the middle of an important work or discussion.

    When I talk to the customer care, I feel to forget my 10+ years of experience in software and networking. These customer care people are telling to delete temporary internet files, cookies, and browsing history in order to increase the speed. What a ****!! Cookies are used to accelerate the access to the webpage which was accessed before. And these crap customer care people are misleading by giving completely opposite picture.

    Now to add another feather to TATA's hat ... we know that 1024 kb = 1 mb. In TATA Indicom's system, 1000 kb = 1 mb. Thus they are stealing huge money from the customers. Also I have found that they are exaggerating the data usage and thus charging more than actual.

    I am totally frustrated by their service. I will recommend people not to use TATA Indicom's internet service.

    I hope that TATA Indicom management will be more cautious and they should take care of the situation to avoid the damage in TATA's reputation.



    This feedback is not with any malicious intention, rather it is to give true picture. I worked for one of the TATA's company for 9 years and I had some good image of TATA. But TATA Indicom is destroying that good feeling about TATA. I wish this will be noticed by top management of TATA Indicom.

    What will you do with with our vsnl email ids and complaint no. I dont think that tata would worry about your blog for any reason if they dont worry about our complaints with them.

    I dont think that this would help any bit. The best way to bring up and voice if to inform New channel people and they would do something about it as they do it with other problem of people.

    I Got 256 Kb/s Infinity Connection... Cost 1200 Per Month
    But My Download Speed Is Only........ 20 Kb/s
    Every Morning 8.15 My Router Will Be Set To Factory Default Settings And It Shows A Message
    ... A Net Work Cable Unplugged....
    Then Conncted.... Then Unplugged....


    This Altornate Messages Continues For 2 Hours....


    After 2 Hours
    I Have To Go 162.198.1.1
    And Enter My Settings.....

    Then I Can Able To Connect Till Evening 6.15

    6.15 Pm Same Problem Will Occur
    Untill 9.pm

    Then I Have To Change The Settins Again....


    If I Got This Type Of Sucking Connection In Contjnues Three Days


    4th Day There Is No Connection ......
    They Will Tell Main Server Problem......
    After 2 Days It May Repare.......


    I Am Fooled By Tata Indigom.........

    Im Losting Rs 1200 Per Month..
    Truly Tata Indicom Sucking My Money...

    Tata Indicom Broadband internet service and support is really bad – Don’t buy !

    In past 3 months my net service worked for just 30 days. The mails sent to tata indicom customer care team were not responded to for week at a time. Their nodal officer is gutless freak who says that no matter if service was not there.. I will be charged.
    Its in their policy – No Refund!

    I have exchanged some 200 mails and the copy paste working is inhuman. The response I get from them is way off the mark. They have retards working in their team who have been assigned incentive to harass customers .

    They don’t understand the word refund or disconnect! Their server shows me logged in even when their line is not connected!Isn’t that hilarious? I mean, if I can get net without their line, why the hell will I need to pay them?

    Their engineers are great ! They have been ringing my door ball at 6:30 in the evening!
    I don’t know what they do the whole day ! They close the service calls at their end and tata indicom seems to be helpless. I keep filing complaints and they either ignore them or close the calls without even checking up!

    As a customer you will be required to coordinate between the customer service and engineer yourself, and damn , you won’t get paid for it either .
    I was denied refund or disconnection! My fault – I asked the damn service to be removed as it was not working for 2 weeks and there was no response from their team !

    Just imagine – Tata indicom charging all its customers on daily basis , even when they do not provide services . Isn’t it shocking! A policy that states that there will be no refund! Even when there is no service?
    They play around to show usage on customer account to justify the charges! Damn, my system was not even switched on for a whole week!

    After wasting many a hours sending mails and trying to show them some reason , I have finally stopped . I just want you to avoid such a service company and place your hard earned money elsewhere ! With Tata indicom you will only suffer nd get cheated . Tata indicom is a fraud company . Avoid it at all cost !

    All said and done – I just want to warn you – Please don’t go for tata indicom internet broadband services. It’s pathetic.

    Default Go for Tata Indicom if you want to Suffer

    Everyone who has posted in this forum is right. TATA INDICOM SUCKS!!!
    I paid 2200 bucks for installation and deposit. Please let me know if I am wrong with any of the following
    a) I got it installed after 5 days. (Airtel installed it in 18 hours)
    b) From second day the connection failed
    c) When I call customer service, they coolly say, it will take 4 working days
    d) I finally manged to get hold the service manager. He said he will send someone to rectify it.
    e) 2 days later someone came on a cycle (he does not seem to have any idea of what computer or modem is all about). He checks the cable connection and says everything. I tell him 'Man, the internet is not working'. He says 'that's none of my concern, I was here to check if the cables were okay'.
    f) Fed up, I call the service manager again. He says that he will send another guy.
    g) The 'another' guy comes after a day (this time on a bike). He checks the cables once again and confirms everything is ok. He calls the service manager and says everything is fine at my end. He checks the router, my ethernet card, turns off and on the router atleast 20 times, everything and tells me that there might be problem at their end and said he will call me back.
    h) The 'call' never came. I waited until next day evening and I called up the service manager again. This time I said I will go to TRAI. He said he will again send someone. No one came.
    i) I again call the SM the next day and told him no one has come. He said he will check.
    j) In the meanwhile, using my Reliance mobile dial up connection, I check my email and was shocked to see that my complaint was closed.. OOF.. I can go on writing....
    k) I call up customer care and ask them why my complaint was closed and they tell me that their service guy has confirmed that my internet connection was working and hence they closed the complaint. I tell them the problem is not solved and how come they can close the complaint. they said that they will lodge a fresh complaint and again the standard 4 days.
    i) I got totally pissed off and I made several calls to customer care (you know very well how long it takes to speak to Tata indicom custome care.. it takes atleast 15 mintues).. MY cell phone bill soars!!!.
    j) Finally some knowledgable person calls me to check the line. WOW.. The connection works after the 7th day. I ask him what was the problem. The guy says that my connection in their DSL Hub was not plugged in !!!! HA HA HA
    k) Man, after this every alternate day, my connection would go down. Even if the connection was there, it will get frequently disconnected every 2 mintues.
    l) Several calls, my phone bill was 2200 that month (my usual bill would not be more than 300) and after 1 month of a torturous time.. I finally surrendered the connection.
    m) These guys were very prompt in taking back my router. But they were not prompt in paying my deposit. They paid after 3 months and dedcuted 800 bucks.
    n) I still do not have an answer from them on why they dedcuted 820 bucks. even after around 100+ emails reminding them that they need to answer me.

    GENTLEMEN, I NEED A FAVOUR. CAN YOU JOIN ME IN LAUNCHING A COMPLAINT AGAINST TATA INDICOM IN THE CONSUMER FORUM. I AM SURE ALL HAVE SIMILAR OR WORST EXPERIENCES AND TATA CANNOT GET AWAY BY STEALING OUR MONEY AND TIME. PLEASE DROP ME AN EMAIL AT KBALA50@GMAIL.COM.

    IT WILL HELP TO SHOW A LESSON TO SUCH TYPE OF SERVICE AND WE ALSO NEED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR OUR MENTAL TORTURE, EXPENSES AND AGONY.

    Hey buddy,
    you just replace the dsl modem
    and check.
    if its works tell them to replace your modem.
    some modem might have that kind of problems.

    I would say, service industry in India is stil immature. The kind of issues you are having with Tata may be present in Airtel, BSNL or other ISPs albiet less severe.

    I am a user of Tata broadband from last 2 years and have own shares of bad experiences and good ones. If you have concerns with connection or any technical ascpet you may lets us know here, instead of cursing the service provider itself with no avail.

    In last 4 months I never had to call helpdesk, bills are on time and connection has been flawless (by Indian standards). We can help Tata improve, they need feedback.

    Tata Indicom is cheating customers in every possible way. They deliberately delay the Photon+ activation/installation so that they can charge lumsum amount in the name of pro-rata even after offering free 10GB data. No one explains you what is pro-rata and how the bill will be calculated and you get a shock when you receive the first bill. After getting a connection @ Rs.4000 and using it for only 6 days Tata Indicom has barred my connection and slapped a bill of Rs.15000 even after I used below the 10 GB limit. How can they charge for something which they are offering as free?

    I doubt about what the service providers claims to provide high speed. My one friend is having Surf to Plug connection and the speed is too much slow. I wonder what kind service these broadband operators will be providing.

    Have you checked how much data have you downloaded?
    If you exceed 10GB then they charge some amount of money per KB;

    And since the speed is very high, too much data gets downloaded in minutes. I hope you have not exceeded 10GB Limit. The charges are too much after that.

    Thumbs down Tata Bye-Bye...

    I would love to say 'Tata Bye Bye' except that those scoundrels have my money (a few thousand) in my pre-paid broadband account.

    I just joined this forum to add my voice to the chorus of people complaining about lousy service from Tata. I'm located in Calcutta and have had very poor service with the connection being down more often than it is up!

    Each time the morons in the Hyderabad call centre give you the usual crap and they have a bagful of excuses - authentication server down, junction box not working, blah blah blah

    They readily admit that their field engineers do not work on weekends and not beyond 6.30pm on weekdays - and yet they claim to be an ISP!

    Imagine if the Fire Brigade said that!

    If you are even remotely thinking of buying a Tata connection, save your money, save your hair, save your heart and save your sanity.
