Hi,

Very sorry that you got a bad experience, but I have used/experienced BSNL, AIRTEL, RELIANCE, YOU, VSNL/TATA and finally settled on VSNL/TATA Indicom for the simple reason that they are the best. I am a freelancer and my internet connection needs to be on 24 hours and it's almost a year since I am with TATA, I have had 99.9% uptime. And the occasion there was a problem - like the electrical fellow accidentally cutting the cable, the problem was attended within 2 hours. Very infrequently or rarely there is outage or traffic jam. I just call up their TOLL FREE number 18002097070 and within minutes, the line would be smooth as silk. Twice I had problems for which they were not responsible - a virus attack and screwing up the network because of a combination of SW & HW factors unexplainable here - but they attended that too and helped me out.

Cost wise too they are best - For Rs.1000 + tax (Rs.123) a month you get 384 kbps, 24 hours unlimited use and 1 free static IP address. I have quite a few contacts on all continents and have come to know that no ISP in the World can match that.

Incidentally, when I joined them, my connection was setup within 36 hours, compared to 3 to 10 days for all other ISPs - and I am no VIP or minister's cohort, just a very common middle class person.

I wish you the best with your current ISP.

I got a Tata broadband recently and I'm really happy with it.

Speed is provided to 100% as promised in the plan.

I like the fact that they give a static IP (unlike many other providers) and they provide you with normal Ethernet cable - so no stupid modems needed, simpler installation.

And they own a high class IP carrier network on the planet - after buying Teleglobe.

I too have the same connection and and the average speed is 30 kps out 384 kpbs they offer in plan and that's too with frequent disconnection every 10 mins.....


it's really amazing actually i think tata indicom might have misunderstood u as a VIP or some thing and they r providng such service but its really hard for me hear such good comments on tata broadband

Default TATAIndicom Broadband is a nightmare

I got the TATAIndicom Broadband connection on August2008 by paying Rs.3000/- for four months in advance and the very next day, I could not connect to the internet. I called up the customer care (waited for 5 mins) and they asked me to click the Repair option. After that I got the connection. When the power went off and came back, again I could not connect to the internet. Again spent 10-15 mins with the customer care to fix the problem. This time so many settings, I need to change. Finally I got the connection. Next day, the connection was like a shortwave radio. It will be up for one minute, then disconnected the next minute. Again it will be up for one minute and then again disconnect. I lodged a complaint. Some executives came and they did some settings and it started working. When they left and after one hour, it was the same again. When I complained to the customer care, they had asked me keep the white box (I think the modem) on for 24 hours. I kept it on for 24 hours and everytime, I try to connect, I don't get the connection and I have to call the customer care and spend lot of money on calls that require me to wait for more time. The worse thing is that the customer care could not solve this problem permanently. It just works when I call the customer care and the next day, it is gone.

Fed up with this, I had sent an email request for disconnect and there was no response to that email for one week. Then I again called up the customer care and they gave me a ticket number for that disconnect complaint. Nothing happened. Again during November I had sent another email for disconnect and this time, I received a response and a call that it has been disconnected. I asked them whey they will come and pick up the equipment and they replied that in a day or two that will happen. But till today they did not pick up the equipment.

In this total 4 months, I have used only around 20 hours for surfing the internet. All other time, it was disconnected and I had spent lot of money calling the customer care.

So, NEVER NEVER go for TATAIndicom. Better go for Airtel. I had enquired about Airtel with my friends and they said, it is a wired broadband connection and the connection is always up.

So, say Tata to TATA. Do not go for these cheaters.
