Default Try these before buying tata indicom ..u will know

tata indicom broadband is the worst service on earth.. no not exxagerrating.. if u had the connection you will know.

read below.. try something as explained below.. then if u feel going for it, buy tata indicom.

    Customer Service:
Their service reminds you often that tata indicom is a govt company only managed by tata group.
Yes, to clarify, tata indicom and the broadband service is just a marketing plan of selling existing vsnl services. the infrastructure, the bandwidth, the backend service guys are all government employees and its the same old dirty vsnl service that is now gift wrapped under the name tata indicom broadband.

Tata are good managers.. so they have hired a private call-center for taking all customer complaints.. to hide the poor government employee based service backend. So, you might have a good feel when u place a complaint, but how it is resolved, and how fast depends on the pressure the call center people put on the backend service departments.. something its within 2 hrs, sometimes 2 months... the latter happens quite too often.

Their is a catch here.. tata managers may have hired a call center for taking complaints.. but it turns out that call center is full of calls, and whenever u call u will be told one of the following.

    1. your estimated wait time is greater than 12 mins, we recommend u call later. <disconnects.>
    2. your estimated wait time is less than 12 mins, .. and keeps playing the so called hold tone , with loud advertisements.. <suggest u to keep the phone a little away from your ear when you are listening to hold tone for mins or hours... becos all of a sudden a lady voice will shout so loud about a tata indicom offer which you dont care about>

If you are in chennai.. TRY THIS:
    - assume as if you are already a tata indicom broadband owner from chennai..
    * call 5540121
    * press 1 for ’broadband account’ (or whatever the menu says for that)
    * press 3 for ’existing customer’ (or whatever the menu says for that option)
    * press 1 for ’technical queries’ (and listen to wait time, and hold tone)

    RESULT:
If in the above test you are able to get to a customer service executive on the first attempt .. or before 20 mins... then probably you can consider your luck with purchasing tata indicom broadband.

    FACT:
The customer service call center for chennai callers... is in hyderabad.. (does it sound logical)
The hyderabad call center executives know no nuts about places in chennai.. so dont tell them you are in adyar and things like that on the call.
Also think .. how can somebody in hyderabad help me solve a problem in chennai with the connection.. hardly they can only call up and press the backend govt. employed executives in chennai.. but u know govt. employees dont pick up calls if the caller will ask them to do work )
    HA HA HA.

    ISP service:
Tata indicom broadband has the biggest market share in broadband service providers.

YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT TO TATA GROUP MANAGERS.. IF THEY COULD SELL VSNL’s dirty infrastructure on services so well... they can sell even a sack of mud for 1000 rupees per month.

Their infrastructure though doesnt support so many customers.. but tata only manages and markets.. so they are still having problems convincing the whole company to improve infrastructure and importantly improve quality of service personnel.. and how sincere they are to solving customer complaints.

    * U can expect frequent disconnection problems.. (remember the old vsnl dial-up service)
    * U can expect frequent total link down problems.. (tata indicom runs its broadband wires over coconut trees in houses, and some bad rusted posts and wooden pillars.. ) during rains, and even during better winds... you can expect your connection to be down, because somewhere a coconu tree leaf fell across and the wire got cut. :O) he he.. you have to place a complaint for this with a guy in hyderabad, the call center location... and after a week your local hub service fellows will call u and ask whether u still have the problem.. try asking them the local hub number.. they will never give.. and even if they give, they will make sure they dont pick it up.

Please check airtel broadband, bsnl broadband... and others a 100 times before even considering tata indicom.. i am not writing this in frustration.. i cant tell u how important i feel it is to help people not get into the dirty problems i have faced in 1.5 yrs of using tata indicom broadband. It comes to a payment of 1000 rupees per month.. (if they say lesser.. believe me..their are big hidden costs)... + the call costs i incur waiting on the customer service line listening to loud surprise ads.

    But ..
GO FOR TATA INDICOM BROADBAND.... FEEL THE INDIAN SERVICE AT YOUR THROAT

Now i understand why americans who purchase dell computers write bad about dell’s customer service.... dell redirects all customer service to call centers in bangalore, india.

Am a Tata customer, I started with DISHNET and now the services are getting worse as TATA took over DISHNET. Cusotmer services are useless: Once when I called to the CS as I did not have connection for 7 days (router was damage and removed by the engineer) and still showing uploads and downloads during the period which do not have connection.

When I explain everything to the CS personal over phone and asked for an explanation for the download in the usage, he said that this may happen due to a virus problem in my computer. I just wonder why upload and downloads could happen when there is no router. If so what is the use of the router and all the cables out here in Bangalore making the place a spider web?

    Unhappy

I have got Tata Indicom prepaid broadband. I am stuck with 4 complaint numbers and no service. Worse is that since last 8 days i am not having net connectivity and they are not bothered. In 8 days i have 4 complaint nos.
1st - link light is not up
    2nd - unable to browse
3rd - coz 2nd was closed without checking wiht customer!
    4th - coz 3rd and 2nd are not resolved

    Can you believe this ??

Worse is that the technical service is bad.. I simply end up shouting at customer care guys who dont' know what's happening! But they dont' even have a further complaint escalation thing! This really sucks!

DONT' EVER GO FOR TATA INDICOM BROADBAND!

as per my experience with TATA indicom I do agree with you all its the worst one.

ash123 dont take new complain no. from them instead ask them not to close the Complain no. unless you get proper connectivity. beacaue as per there norms they have to get the complain resolve within 72 hours.

Also, once you open a complain on phone to track it keep mailing them everyday keeping the Technical incharge in your area in CC.

If they are providing the service than we have to take it from them, since we have paid for it.

I HIGHLY ,STRONGLY , VEHEMENTLY disagree with the thread starters subject line "Try these before buying tata indicom ..u will know"

Before Buying ? DO DRUGS , HAVE SEX WITH YOUR BEST FRIENDS WIFE, ANYTHING , BUT DO NOT GO IN FOR A TATA INDICOM BROADBAND CONNECTION.

I agree with each and every word you said in your thread.

Im completely frustrated & out of my wits end , i am not only going to change this tata indicom broadband service, but also make sure that no one else suffers like i have done. This is nothing short of day light robbery.

I will pray that none of my fellow indians suffer at their hands no more.

My connection issue is as of now resolved. 10 days of no connection i get a downtime credit of only 3 days!!! ridiculous!

My issue was resolved - the Technicians who had come to my house to check the "link down" issue has pressed the reset button on the router which wiped off all the router ip settings! finally after 10days the guy came and checked it! It's really ridiculous!

If you have an issue you have to check up on it everyday and it would be Great for them if you'd remind them every 3 times a day! and yes they dont' call up and check up wiht you if the network is up they just close it.. after all their issue is resolved! irritating...

Their software doesn't permit re-opening of closed issues! so i had around 8-10 complaint nos in 10 days for one complaint "i basically dont' have a net connection working" no one seemed to understand that.

End of it all ? I hate being said "sorry " or "i apologize" these customer care people have really killed the meaning of those words!!!

    Congrates dear,

Actually, it happens when your Router firmware get corrpeted or you have some issue with connection try these from your side.

    1. Check you cable
    2. Repair the network connection (Window XP)
    3. Uninstall your network driver and reinstall it
    4. Power cycle your router
    5. Reset your router and reconfigure it (provided you know the configuration)

if the above things dosent work than no option you have to call TATA Customer Care and wait long to get resolution of the issue.

    Hi,

Very sorry that you got a bad experience, but I have used/experienced BSNL, AIRTEL, RELIANCE, YOU, VSNL/TATA and finally settled on VSNL/TATA Indicom for the simple reason that they are the best. I am a freelancer and my internet connection needs to be on 24 hours and it's almost a year since I am with TATA, I have had 99.9% uptime. And the occasion there was a problem - like the electrical fellow accidentally cutting the cable, the problem was attended within 2 hours. Very infrequently or rarely there is outage or traffic jam. I just call up their TOLL FREE number 18002097070 and within minutes, the line would be smooth as silk. Twice I had problems for which they were not responsible - a virus attack and screwing up the network because of a combination of SW & HW factors unexplainable here - but they attended that too and helped me out.

Cost wise too they are best - For Rs.1000 + tax (Rs.123) a month you get 384 kbps, 24 hours unlimited use and 1 free static IP address. I have quite a few contacts on all continents and have come to know that no ISP in the World can match that.

Incidentally, when I joined them, my connection was setup within 36 hours, compared to 3 to 10 days for all other ISPs - and I am no VIP or minister's cohort, just a very common middle class person.

I wish you the best with your current ISP.

I got a Tata broadband recently and I'm really happy with it.

Speed is provided to 100% as promised in the plan.

I like the fact that they give a static IP (unlike many other providers) and they provide you with normal Ethernet cable - so no stupid modems needed, simpler installation.

And they own a high class IP carrier network on the planet - after buying Teleglobe.

I too have the same connection and and the average speed is 30 kps out 384 kpbs they offer in plan and that's too with frequent disconnection every 10 mins.....

it's really amazing actually i think tata indicom might have misunderstood u as a VIP or some thing and they r providng such service but its really hard for me hear such good comments on tata broadband

Default TATAIndicom Broadband is a nightmare

I got the TATAIndicom Broadband connection on August2008 by paying Rs.3000/- for four months in advance and the very next day, I could not connect to the internet. I called up the customer care (waited for 5 mins) and they asked me to click the Repair option. After that I got the connection. When the power went off and came back, again I could not connect to the internet. Again spent 10-15 mins with the customer care to fix the problem. This time so many settings, I need to change. Finally I got the connection. Next day, the connection was like a shortwave radio. It will be up for one minute, then disconnected the next minute. Again it will be up for one minute and then again disconnect. I lodged a complaint. Some executives came and they did some settings and it started working. When they left and after one hour, it was the same again. When I complained to the customer care, they had asked me keep the white box (I think the modem) on for 24 hours. I kept it on for 24 hours and everytime, I try to connect, I don't get the connection and I have to call the customer care and spend lot of money on calls that require me to wait for more time. The worse thing is that the customer care could not solve this problem permanently. It just works when I call the customer care and the next day, it is gone.

Fed up with this, I had sent an email request for disconnect and there was no response to that email for one week. Then I again called up the customer care and they gave me a ticket number for that disconnect complaint. Nothing happened. Again during November I had sent another email for disconnect and this time, I received a response and a call that it has been disconnected. I asked them whey they will come and pick up the equipment and they replied that in a day or two that will happen. But till today they did not pick up the equipment.

In this total 4 months, I have used only around 20 hours for surfing the internet. All other time, it was disconnected and I had spent lot of money calling the customer care.

So, NEVER NEVER go for TATAIndicom. Better go for Airtel. I had enquired about Airtel with my friends and they said, it is a wired broadband connection and the connection is always up.

So, say Tata to TATA. Do not go for these cheaters.

    Regards
    Ram
