Thread: help needed to configure wifi router

Hey frnds first of all,this is a great forum...
i just brought Linksys wireless router model no BEFW11S4..
i have made all the connection properly...!!! but whenever i try 2 connect ,it shows limited connection or no connectivity..and one more thing..in the linksys router's ip address, i saved my user name and password,after saving,the password is displayed to be of more than 15 character..but my actual password is of 8 character only..!!! That is the password dialog box shows something like this *************,but my actual password is not that big..!!!
my ADSLrouter is billion BIPAC5200s
i use windows xp sp3...!!!

Routers usually camouflage the user entered password to illegible long characters so as to prevent/confuse the intruder when intruded. Hence u see such long passwords.

1.Confirm you get connected to Internet ONLY
with the Billion ADSL Modem 5200.

2.Post ipconfig/all
Start RUN type cmd type ipconfig/all

3.In TCP/IP properties select Obtain
IP address automatically"
4.How do you connect ?Dialer Mode ?

5. How many computers to be used ?
6.With Linksys does the LANport/ethernet port
connection work ?
7.Do you have user manuals QIG for both units ?
8. Did you search 'BroaDBAND hOW TO >.." FORUM HERE ?

I am also "Dumb" like a computer.

Two computer has to be connected one ma laptop n ma pc
i connect by giving my username and password..!!!
yes in Linksys LAN Port/ethernet connection works perfectly..!!!i have manual for Linksys router but not for billion..!! Yes i did the search..!!

If u need to connect twp computers and want to browse on these two without any problems u should configure your modem to work in pppoe/router mode. Currently when u dial out the connection, u are in bridged mode. The modes can be changed in the modem.

bro cool_techie_tvm,i would like 2 use wifi capabilities in my Laptop via the linksys router..!!!! sholud i have to change the mode in order to use wifi..? if so i would appreciate some help..!! on how to change the mode..!! More over my modem is in PPPOE mode sir...!! I have saved my password n username in ma modem..!!

If u are already in pppoe mode, then its real easy like a pie. BTW have u tried the wireless network setup wizard found in the control panel? Make sure to enable wifi in the laptop while running the wizard. The laptop will automatically detect the wireless modem.
