Rep Power: 0  |  Wired PC and wi-fi laptop; how to share DSL connection with static IP and x8821r+ Ours is a 2 Mbit/s DSL connection from VSNL TATA connected to a desktop computer. The static IP provided is "configured in the PC LAN card but not in the x8821r+ router". The router is operating in "bridged mode". Below are the present setup details: Router: x8821r+ ---------------- Bridging: enabled WAN to WAN bridging: enabled ATM interface: 0 Operation mode: enabled Encapsulation: 1483 Bridged IP LLC VPI: 0 VCI: 32 LAN mode: Routing and bridging LAN IP: 192.168.1.1 LAN side DHCP server: enabled Desktop PC ----------- PC LAN IP: both the static IP and 192.168.1.2 PC OS: XP SP3 No of LAN cards: 1 I'd like to share this connection between the PC and a laptop that has Wi-fi. I am ready to buy a Wi-fi AP/router if required. Someone suggested buying a Dlink DIR 300 wireless router. Do I need to change the PC's and router's existing configuration and bring in the wireless router? Could someone please tell me the detailed procedure to do all this? Thanks. |
