Default Tata Indicom withdrawing wireline (DSL) services!?

I am from Hyderabad. Currently mine is a 2 Mbps DSL connection from Tata Indicom with 5 GB limit. I have by and large had a smooth ride with the service in the last 3-4 years.

To my surprise, I received an email from Tata Indicom that to adhere to recent TRAI regulations about maintaining minimum downtime and quality of service, it is very soon withdrawing the broadband wireline DSL services in Hyderabad. But, since their WiMax service is not found to be technically feasible at our premises, my account is going to be closed in a few weeks time.

Now, I have started looking at alternatives. Is it advisable to go for BSNL DataOne or Airtel broadband services? Aren't they too offering the wireline DSL services? I am confused. I am okay with buying the Tata Photon or Reliance NetConnect if they are reliable. Advice, suggestions please. Thanks.

Great. So they are very quick to embrace FUP but would rather stop their service than try to meet QoS norms.

Reliance has launched EVDO.Rev.A in Hyderabad under Netconnect Broadband+ brand. The advertised speeds are 3.1 mbps (downlink) and 1.8 mbps (uplink). However, being wireless, it depends on signal strength and the actual speeds that u can expect would be in the range of 0.8 to 1 mbps.

TATA Photon uses EVDO.Rev.0 with maximum theoritical speeds of 2.4 mbps (downlink) and 144 kbps (uplink).

Airtel DSL is very good but has implemented Fair Usage Policy. So no real unlimited plans.

BSNL Dataone has no FUP but the CC does not exist.
