Angry High Billing by Tata Broadband

    Dear all

Has anybody faced exorbitant billing in their service!!. I got a bill of Rs. 35,000/- for April-May 09. I have had this connection since Dec 2004 and till March 09 my bill never exceeded Rs. 750/-. They say that my usage was high. Usage pattern has been the same since the commencment date of the connection. They have sent the details for 21GB upload+downloadd

I have written to their Nodal Offficer but they do not agree. They have disconnected the account even though the due date is 5th June.

What sort of a device do they use to monitor the upload/download? Can the group educate me on how to go about it from here?

    Please advise

You probably have a kid in the house who tried downloading a few movies.
Ask them for a detailed usage details sheet and see when you used the maximum data transfer.

    Dear friend

I have no kids and am the youngest in the family. And even if I go by your argument, they would have been there prior to March 09 when the high bill came suddenly. They couldn't have gooten in to their head to go all out to download heavily.

There is a possibility that your connection is compromised.

    a) Someone may be knowing your user-id/pwd. I have no idea whether Tata Indicom cicruits are port bound (tied to the telephone number). Or, whether they have any kind of security that prevents this happening.
    b) Secondly a wireless router may be the cause. Do you have wireless router at home? If yes, is it secured?

I have a wifi on my laptop, which shares this connection through a switch, but it is disabled. Pasword they know because they can "see" it from their side. There is no connection with a telephone.

I guess I will pay under protest and take them to a Consumer Court.
