    first of all i would start by telling you that if u r using the 512 kbps connection on three computers simultaneously then ur bandwith will be divided among the three computers.(i.e. if ur using it at the same time)

    for u torrent u need to do port forwarding.goto advance settings and enter the port number you use for ur torrents.refer portforwarding.com

    also i would like to know what the problem is
    have u been able to connect the three computers and are facing speed problems??
    or you are not able to connect the three computers at all?

    I have not understood what your problem is exactly (from post # 1):

    a) In part 1, you said that you have one desktop and two notebooks and your are not able to share files across.

    b) In part 2, you said that the internet speed is slow on the three computers.

    Let me answer, Q2 first. The answer is, if you are using the three machines simultaneously, then your speed and bandwidth will be shared by all the three computers. So speed will be approximately 1/3rd on each computer. If you switch off/disconnet one computer, the bandwidth/speed will become available to the other two and so on. I hope that is now clear to you.

    Now coming to the first problem. To achieve connection, you must do the following configuration changes:

    - Setup the wireless modem in PPPoE mode
    - Preferably DHCP should be ON and TCP/IP of all computers should be set to automatic or unique (duplicate IP address is not permitted)
    - Windows vista comes with IP v6 as default - change it to IP v4 (same as XP). There are many articles on this topic. This should be done for both your Vista computers.
    - Enable networking on computers by adding them to a workgroup. Again there are lot of articles on the web on how to do this. Create one workgroup.
    - Give user friendly names to all PCs
    - Share folders for read/write on all PC

    Now you can access each pc by

    Start Menu --> Run --> \\pc_name
