Rep Power: 0 | Hello there, I have a Billion BiPAC 5200s router and i want to forward ports for UTorrent. I've been through most of the guides and I have a couple of questions: My router (on the config page) has bridge connection enabled. And NAT is disabled. What I gather from the billion user manual is that for NAT to be enabled you need to be on PPPoE. I have a dynamic IP obviously. My Utorrent specifically says that the ports are blocked. So could someone tell me if I can manually switch from a Bridge to a PPPoE? And what setting would I need? Also if enabling NAT is possible without the switch it would be great. Also I just switched from a 2mbps line to a 256 kbps. What torrent speeds will the 256 give me? EDIT: By bridge connection I mean Bridge Mode in the Interface setup -> Encapsulation in the router config pages. |

Rep Power: 1 | If your router is bridged and if it is the only device connecting your pc to the internet, then the only thing close to a firewall that can block your incoming/outgoing connection to the internet is probably something on your pc itself. Check your firewall settings if you have such software on the pc or Windows firewall itself. You might also come across such situations with some local ISPs who give out private ip addresses (in the range 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x or 172.16.x.x) in which case there is nothing much you can do than talk to your provider which I doubt would relent |

Rep Power: 10 | In Bridge connection, port forwarding is not required as all ports are open. Correct me if I am wrong. |

Rep Power: 0 | Hey guys here's an update. I had a Bride connection in the first place because I needed a dialer (was a time based account then). So the TATA guy converted the PPPoE to bridge. So I converted that back to a always on PPPoE and forwarded ports, problem was solved after some struggle though. @Rameshjee: Yeah I thought so too. Dunno how this mess started in the first place. UTorrent and the PF port checker refused to show port open. @Meetdilip: Thanks for the link I've been there before. And here's a point PF never states, the Utorrent connectivity guide does though, the static IP you are assigning to your comp should be out of the DHCP range. That kinda made mine work. @hexwiz: indicom doesn't do that thankfully. |
