Default Replace Tata Indicom router with wireless router.

    Hi,
I have a Tata Indicom broadband connection and the router's company is Xavi Technologies Corporation.
    I got a Linksys WRT120N wireless router.

I have to use the Tata router as a getway for the Linksys router and hence use both the routers. The WAN connection is to the Tata router.
Is it possible to use just the Linksys router so that I can have an internet connection on the DESKTOP PC as well as a Wifi enabled device. The desktop PC DOES NOT have a wireless adapter , its connected by a LAN cable.

I tried to configure the Linksys router but could not find where to enter the default gateway.

    Best Regards,
    Salil.

After ensuring that your laptop works in WIFI mode
change the Rj45 from computer end to one of the lan ports of Linksy's unit.
In ADSL modem enable DHCP and give range .
( mention modem model make/number in all posts )

Keep your digital files in one place, and share them from any computer on your network. Four built-in 10/100 Ethernet ports make it easy to connect additional wired computers, storage, printers, and other wired devices to your network
    .
    Source: Linksy's product specification.

    2. Guide by @just4Kix in "Broadband How to .. forum " will
    give the correct procedure/ settings.
Models/ menu pages may be different but idea is same.

    Current setup is -

Tata broadband cable -> Tata Router's WAN port.
Tata Router's LAN port -> Cisco Router LAN port.
Cisco Router LAN port -> Desktop PC's LAN card.

I want the setup to be -
Tata broadband cable -> Cisco Router's WAN port.
Cisco Router LAN port -> Desktop PC's LAN card.

and hence remove TATA'a router and use only the Wireless router for both wired and wireless connections.

Is the above possible or will I need a static IP to do it ?

Tata router is in Routing mode and I am using PPPoE.

I hope I am clear in explaining my problem.

    Best Regards,
    Salil.

    1.
Mention the model make/number of your tata cable/adsl modem and cisco wifi router. .

    2.
    Copy/paste following data ( no edit )
    start run type cmd Ok
    new window
    type ipconfig /all
    3.
Presume your Tata Broadband connection is landline based
and the modem used is ADSL modem.

I want the setup to be -
Tata broadband cable -> Cisco (linksys's) Router's WAN port.
Cisco Router LAN port -> Desktop PC's LAN card.

Not possible . As WRT120N is only a wifi router with 4 lan ports.
    XAVI modem cannot be avoided.
You can buy a three in one model. ( example WA3002-G4 below)
ADSL modem + 4 lan port + wifi
to have a single unit for Internet connection.

Default Linksys WRT120N tata indicom wimax successful

I installed from CD and it did it all automatic.
    steps
    insert cd with router off
once cd installation asked for router, connected lan pc to lan router no wan connection yet.
after some installation progress from cd it will ask for internet connection.
connect ethernet from modem of tata indicom to wan port
and next try to access any website, it opens famous tata login page and you are in.
