Question how to set-up home wireless with tata broadband

ny one has set-up the home wireless with tata broadband ?? Seems they are using some ENET mechanism to connect to their hub and my pronet wireless router can't work with that. the configuration i have is -
Pronet 54M WRT router and the tata indicom provided zyxel protege 660R-t1 ADSL modem...

the zyxel modem was preconfigured with tata indicom settings in which they use some ENET settings (bsnl usses normal PPPoE) what configuration we need on the wireless router?

if ny one can guide me on this, it will be gr8.

    tia,

    hi
please post your OS version (means windows xp or vista)
if possible then please post your router details too and trust me it is really very easy to config wireless

    ================================================== =========
go to wireless settings of your router and change your
wireless network name (SSID) to anything alpha numeric like aadi1234 or anything123

change your channel selection to Manual
    change channel number to 11
change wireless security encryption to WPA-PSK
change WPA Encryption key to anything of your choice but it should be more than 8 chracters and alpha numberic again

and can change MTU size to 1400, 1452 or 1492

after making all changes press apply

alpha numeric means combination of alphabets and numbers
still if you face anymore problems then please post here
    just try this and update

    Hey Khushi543,

Try this out - Go to your pronet router admin page and then in the left side panel go to :

    NETWORK - LAN..

Under this you will see a page displaying MAC Address, IP Address and Subnet Mask.
Change the value in IP ADDRESS to 192.168.10.1

Press save and the router will automatically reboot.

Now check your internet - it should work through the wifi pronet router.

This was given to me by the pronet engineer over the phone and now my wireless network is working. Hope it works for you too!!

    Cheers.

You have to configure it for static IP or PPPoE whichever system you're using. For a PRONET router goto Network->Wan and all the config options are there.

For PPPoe enter username/pass, if it still doesn't work then maybe there are two services on the same cable and you need to enter the "access concentrator" in the advanced page. Your Tata engineer will help you if this is the case.

For Static IP just enter the IP/Subnet mask/Default Gateway and DNS servers as provided by the company.

Could anyone give me stepwise instruction to set up router and wat to do on Laptop to make it enable.

    Any help would be appreciated!

First things first, did u try configuring your connection in the wireless router? Because once u configure it, then the laptop will automatically detect the wireless router. Make sure u keep a note of the SSID/WEP/WPA keys being used in the router.

Hello guys... okay so i'm tata indicom user.

I simply used to plug in the cat-5 cable and use the internet in my computer and the laptop (Simply needed to enter the Ip, subnet mask, gateway and dns servers, after which i opened the internet explorer the login page used to load in automatically)

okay so its like 1 month back i purchase an iphone but to unlock it i needed internet connection to it, which was only possible via wi-fi, so i purchase a wi-fi router and configured the router manually by opening a page on the internet explorer.. which was like.. h**p://192.xxx.xxx.xxx/

so i configured it as i did it on the computer, and the wi-fi worked great.

    .... until now...

Tata has decided to give mac addresses to the customers (ONLY 1)..
so the noobass technical engineer came and did the mac bind to the computer (I was not at home that time)

So the thing right now is.. i can see the wi-fi router on the list of wi-fi devices on the iphone, but i just can't use the internet as i was able to use it before..

Point to be noted here is my router used to show "CONNECTED" in bold blue letters on the top right corner of the screen, but now its showing "NO CONNECTION" In bold red letters.

So i decided to try some things myself which are :

    1. I cloned the mac address of the computer and assigned it the router, that didn't help.

    2. I changed the mac of the computer and assisgned the mac which the engineer had assigned it too the computer, which also didn't work.

So my problem here is.. though i can use the internet via the cable.. but the wifi router is just working like a switch (i have plugged in the cable coming from outside to my router, and then a 2 metre cable from the router to the computer)

My router is "Belkin wireless G router"

    Please help.

Default pronet 54M: how to hide ssid

Anybody knows if the pronet 54M router allows you to hide your ssid at all? Can't seem to find it anywhere!
