    Default photon-plus-strange problem

I have been using photon plus in chennai for quite a while and since I live far outside city, photon plus is the only option,I use photon plus 120 hours per month plan and use the internet mainly in very early mornings when I get good speeds,

this is the speed I got at 4.40pm today afternoon which is decent but the problem is from today morning my speed with any torrent is as low as 8kBps average(kilobytes) same speed I am getting with hotfile premium and mediafire account as well, whereas speedtest and other servers like filesonic premium kept giving above 150-180kBps
even with 60 seeds with 10% leechers on private torrents I am getting 7-10kBPS where as I usually get 230kBps in early mornings ,now my question is why suddenly hotfile, mediafire and torrents are so low where as filesonic, fileserve etc are still ok?the speed difference is ust too much to digest, can anyone please tell me if it is an intentional block from tata?they refused though when I called th Cc

look at the torrent speed I am getting

and this is with a server that I hardly use,but it is giving correct speed

and this is with HOTFILE premium that never gave me less than 140kBps earlier in peak time

and this is with mediafire which also gives me close to 230kBps lot of the times and never under 130kBps

how can it be that only the servers I use often are giving the lowest speed and others that I do not need much are fine?????

please anyone facing similar issues?it is the second day and I am still stuck with torrents at 8kBps,hotfile mediafire at 8kBps but others at 175kBps

this is the speed of sunday morning but mediafire and hotfile premium do not go above 8kBps along with torrents having the same issues.however filesonic etc are working fine..is it throttling of speed?

I called up CC and they solved my prob for 20 minutes, after that it is now worse,my download speeds are now 1-2kBps...where as speedtest shows 2mbps or so,torrents are stuck at 4-5 kBps with 60 plus seeds with 1-2 leech!!!
hotfile premium is at 3 kBps or so,browsing is fast, online videos are still working...isn't anyone there who can come up with an answer?

Looks like your connection is not receiving handshaked links(probably the only answer).Either Tata is blocking it or there is something in ur end.

Handshake is a encryption technology which hides himself or disguises itself.I read this topic in utorrent forums, but at this point I can't find that post. But say u are downloading a movie 'A' in handshaked link p2p it can disguise its hash value to something else. There are anti p2p organization out there looking over bittorrent swarms and detecting uploaders and downloaders. To protect peers from this danger handshaking started.

Nowdays p2p agencies can still detect if its handshaked.
Reputed file hosting sites also hide their hash values in case of sensitive material.

For novice people lets say its just a half secure process of downloading.

    What you can do-

1.If you port forwarded cancel and try.
2.Download ubuntu torrent for 10 mins and say whats the average speed.
    3.Put protocol encryption to forced.
4.If downloading from file hosting site try to get secure SSL connection.
5.Download vuze and try to download torrents.See if spped improves.
6.Create a new parallel connection and try.
7.Update your utorrent(you are using an old build).

    thanks bro

but what us ubuntu torrent?isn't it an OS?
vuze gives same poor speed, hotfile etc speed are stuck at 12kBps
...although twice in 7 days the prob got rectified when both utorrent and hotfile etc gave above 220kBps,now it is back to 6-12kBps although speedtest shows 1.8mbps

I checked speeds with updated utorrent....the utorrent SPEEDTEST it self says speed is correct but wen I start downloading speed is back to 6-12kBps from 220kBps..when this prob appears in only affects hotfile,rapidshare,mediafire....does not affect fileserve or filesonic or youtube videos...it happens in every pc I try it....so my firewall and antivirus don't play a role here

PORT NOT OPEN..i don't know wy it is like this..but here is the result...I think after some restarts port will be open again...

ps:at 9pm onwards speed starts decreasing....hence speed is considerably lower(40odd kBps) however I am getting 12-14 ....WITH and WITHOUT port

Your downloading ports through which the data packets will come is blocked.

Either by firewall (pc tools firewall plus or windows firewall)
I don't know why it comes and goes.
Disable the firewalls (both) and try...I haven't used pc tools so I don't know the specification but you may need to kill the process and try...

the prob is in even those pcs where there is no firewall or Antivirus....
I don't quite understand what you are trying to say by the above sentence.

    PORT IS NOW OPEN
I am still getting very very low speeds (7-13k) on high seeded torrent which was giving 220K few days ago

    and how come

Glasnost: Test if your ISP is shaping your traffic

    test can not detect anything?

I meant that I have tried my PHOTON PLUS in systems where no antivir or firewall is installed at all,and still they showed slower results in speed,so I guess it can not be a firewall issue...abt the ports..yes I blocked it by mistake but it is open now...but then speed is still bad and still bad in hotfile ,mediafireetc whereas no prob with filesonic

    Open Run>cmd

    type "netstat -a -b"

    and see listening ports

Download a file from microsoft and tell me the spped...

I uninstalled the firewall but no help....however the firewall's own download link is aain giving full speed

that command gave 100s of ESTABLISHED ones....donno wat to do with those!so firewall is not at fault

Try protocol encryption to enabled or forced in utorrent set up if tata is indeed shaping your traffic.

I keep on telling that when the prob is there IT IS NOT LIMITED TO UTORRENT,IT APPLIES TO HOTFILE,RAPIDSHARE,MEDIAFIRE and SPARES FILESONIC,YOUTUBE ETC

I tested 8 times,TATA is not shaping traffic they saying
I don't know what to do....just now I downloaded te pc tools firewall again at 92kBps even at night...where as hotfile premium is giving 380bytes per sec!!!!!!!!!

I trie protocol encryption as well although it ain't limited 2 torrent

    Do these things-

1.Reset your device to its factory settings.

2.Reconfigure the connection.(delete the current and do a new one)
    Reinstall the photon driver.

    3.Try downloading in this process
http://www.indiabroadband.net/broadb...hare-free.html (Downloading With Rapidshare for Free!!!)

The 3rd suggestion the link Try to download through that from rapidshare as it will make sure if its your end or theirs.

I am not familier with all the photon settings compltely
have you tried resetting it to factory defaults.

I tried a 50MB Rs link....it gave full speed almost 70kBps(at nyt speed is not 220kBps but 40-70KBps)with the site

whereas with direct rapidshare it refused 2 cross 13kBps....what is the conclusion then?

If you're saying that direct rapidshare link is giving low speed but when using a proxified link full bandwith speed can be attained...

Then the conclusion could be ...(if u haven't forgot to tell me some infos)

    1. Tata is not allowing you to receive data packets as far as your usage staistics

2.They have capped on the sites you visit

3.A very crappy firmware problem in your device(the odds are like 1 in a 100)

    Solution...

    Technical
Use a proxy or VPN for downloading (which will take extra money and you may not get a hell of a speed either)

    Legal
    As you wish...

    P.S.
I'm sorry that I bugged you for so long where as I could've suggested you the last one before, but I had to be sure

If you do a little bit of search you will find that many people have reported this in various other forums. Many of them didn't even got a reply.
But I have sent PMs to those people in 3 other forums where I am registered.

I'll fill you in if I get any solution.

i just checked speed and it was 1.7 mbps whereas hotfile premium is hovering around 800bytes per sec(under 1 kBps)
tata has refused replacement of device and vpn can't be used...
