Guys dere is a strange problem with my tata photon plus !! i hav just got replaced tata photon plus modem becoz it was giving low speed.. now its gud.. but the problem is with utorrent !! its giving me speed of 10-20 kbps !! i dont knw wats wroing with it.. i have done speed test via speedtest.net !! its giving me arund 1.60 mbps speed.. pls help me guys !! plsss...

Did you checked if its the problem with the current torrent or any other torrent also, please also check if
1) utorrent setting are properly set( port check if its open or not.. try changing the port).
2) check if any other firewall or any other thing is blocking traffic.
3) can you tell if there is any green icon on bottom right of utorrent window, or it yellow with exclamation)
4) are you getting good downloads speed with browser..?

Hey Sourabh.. First of all thanks for replying.. Firstly i have tried downloading another torrent bt d speed is same i.e. - !2-!5 kbps.. And can you please tell me wat is dis port check ?? i m nt getting this thing.. secondly how to check other firewall or any other thing is blocking traffic ?? N Yes i m perfectly getting dat green symbol.. My downloading speed with browser is ok ok !!! its nt so gud !! i dont knw wats woring with my tata photon plus !! PLs HElp !!

well if you getting the green icon it seems utorrent is able to communicate properly, but as you asked for port related setting iam guiding you, may be something need to be done.. please follow these steps:-

Step 1)First Click on preferences See attached pic ut0.png
Step 2) Try to look for Connections in this windows as show in picture
See attached pic ut1.png
Compare this setting with your utorrent settings and click ok.

Step 3) now to automatically let utorrent configure and rectify connectivity issues .. again go to menu bar and look for speed guide (refer step 1 image)..Shortcut CTRL+G.
Step 4) now we need to run speed test which will let utorrent determine appropriate setting for you connection and also configure port setting, it will inform you if there is some problem with connection.. See attached pic ut3.png

After all this try if you are getting some speed boost... also i would like to ask you when you download files using browser or download managers like free download manager or internet download manager, what is the exact speed you do you get? .. iam asking you this because as far as i know Tata photon speed is slow as mentioned by many people..

Also you asked for Firewall, well with windows sp2 windows firewall is and inbuilt on to windows, even it exist on vista and win7, also if you have installed some anti virus that comes with firewall like Norton internet security or QuickHeal etc then we need to check if they are blocking it or now.. if you can tell what you are using then we can guide you properly...

Thanks sourabh 4 ur reply !! i hav tried everything which u hav written.. bt dere is no boost in the speed.. n i m am getting around 40-50 kbps speed with orbit downloader manager.. i m nt using any antivirus.. i hav called photon service centre n they told me that a new tower is going to establish d area where i m living.. bt my cousing brother is using photon in the same area n he's is getting gud speed on utorrent..

So is there any speed boost? you told that you are getting 40-50kps with downloader it means the speed is slow on your photon, but atleast you should expect 20-30 on torrent..
well may be its due to signal strength or something.as the customer service people told you that a new tower is going to establish d area, they might be upgrading it and you might be effected (may be beacuse of distance/ location from tower to where you have kept the photon, did you tried opening windows,moving phton to other place near to wondow etc(if its the issue with signal strength) and check ..
if you are still getting slow speed say around 5-10 this its really and issue then may be your network speed is inconsistent.. that could be a issue, TATA network is famous for that... and it matters a lot to torrent..how much speed you are getting now?

Sourabh if its issue with the area den how cum i m getting so gud speed while surfing n while buffering.. d speedtest.net is also showing me downloading speed around 1.60 mbps.. n dis problem hav just started a month ago only.. earlier it was all well.. i m using photon plus for atleast 4 months.. earlier i was getting downloading speed aroun 200 kbps. bt nw i dnt knw wats rong ?? N there is no boost in the torrent speed.. its d same around 12-14 kbps..

ok now we need to check if there are some issues on some setting on computer or its the photon or something else.. lets try this:-
1) as you mentioned you are getting around 40-50kbps speed with orbit downloader it seems we are getting slow speed and same getting reflected to torrent...we need to check if any other software is using internet,
2) you told that you dont have any antivirus.. may be there is some unwanted malware or something that is causing the issue..
3) if you can try to connect photon on other computer and check if you are getting good speed..(remember speedtest.net speed and actual speeds are always different just divide whatever speed you get at speed test.net /8 or even more because practically it would be less..)
4) can you try to check it on your cousin pc? or swap the photon..
5) we are doing all this just to rectify and find why we are getting the issue & make the things clear..then we can try on getting it rectified..
6) i do have TATA DOCOMO 3g and when i did speedtest it was above 1.9mbps but the actual download speed is around 100-250kbps , also slow in torrent ,also there was erratic speed, sometimes there are timeouts .pages opens slow... there is only BSNl that is giving constant speed.. even on torrent BSNl gives 100-350kbps...not to worry about that we are with photon and we have to rectify it, we should atleast get around 50-100-150kbps...
7) do you also face slow speed while browsing?
8) you try one more thing... if you using windows xp and above..
open command prompt.. type-> netsh winsock reset resetcatalog... and restart computer and re connect and check...also in utorrent right click on torrent you are downloading and in bandwidth allocation set it to high..and post back what happened..

Sourabh Dude i gt d problem.. d problem is with utorrent only.. i tried downloading a song wid my other lappy wid orbit downloader n it was giving amazing speed 100 kbps bt its giving me same speed of 12-14 kbps in utorrent.. now dere must be definatelt prob wid utorrent only.. and its giving me d speed of 70-90 kbps with orbit downloader on my lappy also...

Wow nice to heare that you are getting nice speed on other lappy, well in thata case i think i could be an issue with the other laptop( the one we are getting low speed)...
Did you tried this on this lappy?
if you using windows xp and above..
open command prompt.. type-> netsh winsock reset resetcatalog... and restart computer and re connect and check.
Also take your lappy to the same place where your other lappy was getting good speed.
Also try to check orbit downloader settings..
