Thread: How to configure Tata Indicom Broadband MetroE connection with Linux?

Hi,

I am a Tata Indicom Broadband pre-paid MetroEthernet customer based out of Pune. I used the installation CD to install connection manager into my Windows XP laptop, and it works fine. However, I installed Linux as well in the same laptop (Grub bootloader dual boot). I want to use the Broadband connection from Linux as well. Can anyone please help me in doing that? I do not have a static IP.

I'm assuming ur using Ubuntu - linux distribution, in which case go to the terminal there type : pppoeconf and let it search for ip provider & then give the appropriate DNS ip's and ur done..if in case ur linux distribution ur using isn't ubuntu. pls mention ur distribution name whether its suse or redhat.

I recently took a broadband connection from Tata Indicom. Its an
unlimited postpaid package.
I'm using a Fedora 9 (LINUX).
I am trying to connect the Broad band to Linux but not able to connect. It is showing Network connection is disconnected.
And at the time of booting.
He took correct IP. It shows following msg.
Determining eth 0 IP address.... Done.

I checked in to DSN Configuration it showing proper.
It with “broadband.vsnl.com” as DSN name and all
It takes proper IP address automatically but still not able to brows sites.
On task bar Icon showing network connection disconnected with Red Cross on Icon

Any help will be appreciated.
