Default Help needed on Billion 5200S ADSL Router Config

Dear Friends,

I need your help.

Present Scenario
-----------------
1) I am having a Post Paid Tata Indicom Broadband connection with a Static IP
2) Tata Indicom has supplied Billion 5200S ADSL Router
3) Internet WAN Static IP is assigned to the Billion ADSL Router
4) LAN static IP is the default 192.168.1.254
5) I have Wireless users and wired users in my network. For wireless users I am using a LinkSys Wireless router

Everything working fine

My Problem/Requirement
------------------------
1) I have another LinkSys Wireless Router inside my LAN with an IP : 192.168.0.1. Please note my other PC's in the network are using IP range 192.168.0.xxx with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway as the LinkSys wireless routers IP ie 192.168.0.1

2) I need the Internet static IP supplied by Tata Indicom to be assigned to this LinkSys Router instead of the Billion Router.

3) The Billion router should not have any other role other than to terminate the ADSL line on it and convert to Ethernet.

4) Ethernet cable from Billion Router will be pluged directly into the LinkSys Internet Port. ( I don't know whether I need to plug into the Internet Port or to the available 4 LAN ports on it). From this available 4 LAN ports in the LinkSys router, 1 port will be used to connect to the Ethernet switch port, so that Internet is available to other PC users on the network

5) NATing and IP forwarding everything should be taken care by LinkSys Wireless Router.

6) For wireless users I am using DHCP assigned by LinkSys Router.

Everything was working fine when I was using BSNL's DataOne but with a PPoE ie I had configured my LinkSys router to connect to the ISP using the username and password.

Right now I am using a connection with static IP and no need to connect using a username password.

If anybody has faced the similiar problem, then please let me know the solution. I understand that some bridge mode or something to be used to accomplish this.

Thanking you

Anser

I think I am the only person in this forum. Not even a single reply to my query. I think I myself has to ask doubt and I myself has to provide answer to my doubts.

Anyway I found out the solution.

You need to make the Billion ADSL router as bridge and the Tata Indicom static IP should be configured on the WAN side of Linksys router.

Another problem now is that when I try to ping the Tata Indicom assigned static IP from an outside network (internet), it is not reachable. Don't know how to solve this problem. Anyway Remote desktop and other service are working fine.

Thank you all for viewing this thread. As of now I understand that around 18 people viewed this thread and not even 1 reply

I was about to reply to ur post..and then I saw that u found the solution..
The tataindicom guy who configured my modem had enabled the bridge interface.
And he had assigned the WAN IP both to my modem and my laptop.
So, I didn't had to do any kind of port forwarding. and my laptop was practically on WAN.
Even ping was working fine.
But, now i have switched to Airtel, bcoz of poor QOS from TataIndicom.
but, i still have the modem with me. I can checkout the configuration if you need any more detail.

Lightbulb

Billion router is very simple to configure...
First open the router with 192.168.1.254....then click on interface setup on the top of the page....then select the bridge mode and click on save at the bottom of the page....now the router is on the bridge mode...now u have to configure ur linksys with the static ip u have with there gateway and dns.

hi

I have a problem similar to anserkk

I have a billion ADSL router model no.BiPAC 5200 given by tata indicom. The connection type is static IP.
I also have a linksys router WRT54G v5. I am not able to get internet when i connect the billion router to the linksys router & via the linksys to my PC.
It works when I directly connect the billion router to the PC.(the TCP\IP is obtain ip automatically).
I entered the subnet mask etc. values in the linksys router for a static IP connection type.
but the internet does not work.
how do i make it work?

also, i would like to how to do port-forwarding on the linksys and how to enable and configure the wireless settings in the linksys ?
Please reply

Kindly refer to linksys section in PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall for portforwarding your router.
