Default Tata Indicom Wi-Max BB issues with Playstation 3

    Hello everyone,

I recently got Tata Indicom BB (Wi-Max with PowerDesine 3001 modem) connected at my place with dynamic IP config. Then I noticed it won't connect my PS3 online. Then I switched to static IP couple of days back. Now I am able to log into Playstation Network, but for a brief moment only. After like 10 mins or so, it gets disconnected and I have to restart the modem to try logging into PSN again.

It happens on my PC as well. After sometime the network status shows "No Internet Access".

When I tried setting IP address and DNS manually, it won't detect any connection.

It has a NAT type 3 and when the connection gets severed while I'm on PS3, it fails to detect NAT type again.

I have no idea what's causing this problem. If anyone has any solution to this issue, please help. As you all know how competent Tata CC people are.

    Thanks.

Tata wimax connection requires login and once you login you have to leave that page open and if you close that page you will loose connection in a few mins and I guess thats what happens in your case. I am not sure if this is true for connections with static IP as well but its still worth a try... Login using your computer and leave your login page open and connect your PS using a router or switch or whatever you use for that and see if this works.

I used Tata wimax for two years and I will have to say that their network was excellent and apart from a few initial hiccups it was all good while I had it.

    Thanks for the reply.

I changed my plan to static IP, so that I don't have to use that logging in option each time. Also with dynamic IP, I wasn't able to connect my PS3. But now I can.

Thing is after giving a glimpse of hope, the connection died on me. And now the modem disconnects itself after 5 minutes and I've to restart it each time to reconnect, which sometimes happen and sometimes don't.

I got few advice about what to do next. I will ask Customer Care people to change my DNS settings and NAT type hoping it'll make a difference. Because this termination process after every 5 minutes is really getting on my nerves.

Admin, they have again started providing Wimax to Delhi users. I got 1-2 sales call for the same.
