Hi,
I Hope its already configured to your modem and you can access net via cable connecting the modem to your PC.
Conecting to the router
I have a Belkin Router and accessing internet on 3 laptops.
First thing is, check whether you are able to connect to the router from your PC. For doing so, switch on the router and reset it to factory settings. Connect Router and PC via Lan cable or enable Wi-Fi in PC, it will automatically detect the Router as a new connection. Connect to the router. Once connected open web browser ( mozilla/chrome) and enter the IP address of the router in the URL address. This will open the Router Setup Page where you can see all the settings. So now, atleast your are sure you can connect to the Router.
Disconnect the wireless/wired router connection by left clicking the connection icon on lower left corner of the screen ( near time ). Switch off both modem and Router. Connect your router to the modem using a LAN cable. Usually the ports are yellow colored in both modem and router or check for the port where Internet is written. Switch on both modem and router. If router is able to connect to the modem you will see the internet indicator on the Router blinking/glowing green. I didn't had to do any software setting apart from setting up network security key. Even after this if you see the internet indicator on the Router is red, connect to the Router from your PC and go to Router setup Page. Set-up the Static IP as given to you by the ISP. I hope it should work.
If you are still facing issues then:
-call your Router Customer Care, they will definitely guide you.
-call ISP Customer Care and tell them internet is not working. They will definitely send a technician within 24 hrs. Give the technician a few bucks and ask him to setup the router. Learn from him at the same time
