I read some bad reviews but I have had an ok experience with Indicom so far, apart from a batched up installation job which gave me a signal strength of 27 but no connectivity. This was resolved by logging a complaint within 24 hours and after that its been smooth sailing for past 3 months.
Hope it continues..

Always ensure u have good telephone cabling and that the exchange is at moderate distance from your house. Else it will be the worst ISP money can ever be invested on.

I am quite happy with Tata.
The customer care is a bit not satisfying but hardly situation comes to call them. The connection is working perfectly fine with negligible issues.

We are currently studying Business Ethics and I truly wonder Y V R made to read such crap? When all the companies can do is to first attract a customer to his stable and then start wringing his neck...
My only wish, may they themselves get a taste of what they give to us...

In bangalore, the tata-indicom has a different kind of strategy of taking back the wimax antenna and asking the customer to pay for its replacement.
This happened with me, sadly the next day after its installation itself.and i paid for broadband connection for 4 months in advance(4400/-).
when i call the customer care repetitively, everytime they say that the issue is open and will request concerned authorities.
and the nodal officer says that their field engineers havent collected the antenna and will be replaced only if i pay 7700/- for the antenna.
Earlier(some 6 months back) one of my friend faced this kind of issue and after repetitive requests and harassment, they finally gave back his antenna.
I think now a days they are planning not to give back the antenna and trying to make money out of it.
i have read some reviews on this kind of cases, this was mainly happening in bangalore from last 3-4 months.
I am planning to wait for some more time and if i dont get any positive response, i will file in consumer forum.
I've bee a Tataindicombroadband customer for the last 18 months (1 1/2 yrs), and I'm quite happy with it. NEVER had a SINGLE day of downtime.
I called their custome service twice regarding queries, and was promptly responded to with all details. Never had to call them for fixing downtime though.
My planshave been 256 or 384 or 512 unlimited. Consistently been getting the full speed even with torrents. Happy with their "manage my account" feature on their website, I can happily change between their plans.
Only issue is I keep crossing the 40gb-a-month fair usage mark within 3 weeks every month, and they call me and "inform" me to stay within the fair usage mark. Yeah yeah. Up yours pal.
I took a Tata wimax 512 for my office primarily because of the static IP address included in their Business Plan. Service was great for Month #1. But mid-way (15 May 09) thru Month #2, service levels dropped to under 10%. Effectively the antenna couldn't connect with the transmitter.
Three compliants later and 4 visits by service engineers there's still this terrible connection! The reasons for poor quality include birds flying through the beam, people walking (in mid air??? -- The Mahesh Yogi will be jealous) and antenna in wrong position. (Hey Dudes! You Tata guys installed the antenna. Duh!)
I got super-pissed this AM and whacked the wimax box. And Voila! After 2 weeks of zero connectivity managed to get a 50% signal. I think I'll give the box a kick Beckham-style next and see if makes things better. It can't get worse
In Month #1 when I was still elated I decided to get a connection at home. Except it seems if you are higher than the transmitter (I live in a house on a hill) you can't get service either; even if there's nothing between you and the transmitter!
Customer Care remind me of puppies. All slobbery drool (supposedly attentive) but that doesn't achieve anything!
I'll probably cancel and use good old BSNL

My last post was in Oct'08 and my TATA BROADBAND connection (and their service) still rocks!
A piece of advice (after seeing some very rude posts) - please behave cordially with the customer support people and you will be surprised with the results. This applies not just to TATA but to any vendor in any sector. Put yourself in their shoes!

I am having TATA COMMUNICATIONS broadband connection in coimbatore. For the past 5 weeks (from may 15th to june 20th 2009) their LOCAL SERVERS have been DOWN very very frequently, about NINE TIMES. The last being on 17th june 2009, till today its not rectified. Takes about 15-30 minutes to log a complaint in their call center. I spoke to the 1st level customer service personnel to the floor level supervisor to the Manager numerous times, sometimes even 2-3 times in day.. no results so far. The call center guys has always have a standard reply "pls give us a last chance, within 6 business hours it will be rectified" what a joke!. I Went personally to their local office in Coimbatore and there is no designated person to handle customer complaints, there are only technical engineers and they don't bother about customer service! They dont even seem to monitor their LOCAL SERVERS. Only after a customer logs a complaint they try to wake up from their sleep. I have tried all means to get their attention from visiting their local office, to call center to Continuous mails to their NODAL OFFICER in chennai and nobody seems to care. VERY PATHETIC ATTITUDE SPOILING TATA BRAND. [after several visits to their office, the reception guy who takes complaints finally allowed to talk to one engineer named Kumarasen 9281053005 who said will follow up the issue, only god knows..]

when ever the net is not working . Their speed of response is very poor . They do not care for their customers . They only use one word 'work in progress'. There is no one responsible. There is no commetment and assureance . There is no proper explanation as to why there is a delay . we do not know whom to approach during unexpected dalay . These call center are only trained to say that , we will forward your request to our seniors by adding priority comment . inspite of calling 5 - 6 times in 24 hrs , there is no reaction or response .
I FIRMLY SUGGEST DO NOT USE TATABROADBAND SERVICES . THEY ONLY LOOK FOR PROFIT AND DO NOT CARE FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE .
THANK GOD WE HAVE OTHER ALTERNATIVE .
I too had a bitter experience with tata indicom. That is why I switched to Airtel. Airtel is definitely much much better than tata indicom, though it is a bit costly!!
