i am using Tata indicom ADSL broadband service for the past 5 years and i will say, that i am 60 percent satisfied with their service.
signed up for Tata indicom back in 2005 and it started with a time based plan of 30 hours per month and a monthly rental of 800 bucks. the speed was 512kbps and download speed was 64KB/s in utorrent. the speed was consistent.
over the course of time, time based plan was insufficient and switched to their business plan of 3GB per month. i was using a ADSL USB modem. i have had no issues with the speed as it was always constant.
my adsl usb modem died slowly and now i have got the TAD100(teracom) adsl2+ modem and changed to the Flash 384 plan which is too good.
only problem now is that it is expensive compared to the other ISPs. i pay 1300 bucks per month and i do get disconnections atleast once per month and they take minimum of 3 days to rectify it. am always thinking of switching to BSNL's 500 plan, i wud be saving 700 bucks per month.

I was so dissatisfied with Tata Indicom that I changed to Airtel long back!!
It is really good though costly.
Hey guys, not to break the flow or anything but I've been using Tata Indicom BB since June 2007 and have been relatively happy with their service. Sure there were times when they totally slept on their job and didn't attend to queries quickly which made me pull out my hair at times. But since the past year or so when I switched to their Wimax connection (before i was using a Dsl connection) things have been better. Sure i have some occasional slow speeds and very very rare disconnectivity but for the most part they have been better too. Maybe i was just lucky or the stars were shining on me or just that they are able to offer good service in my area I don't know, but I do have to give 'em credit.
TATA indicom photon sucksssssssssssssssssss..............
i got this Tata indicom photon+ in Mumbai on a rush thinking being well advertised and Tata brand, it gtta be good. Called the agent home who assured me that being pre-paid it would work in major cities like Delhi and Bangalore etc. This was Dec 2009 when i got 1 GB plan for Rs.650/-.
It worked awesome with very good speed for a month in between which out of curiosity i called the customer care to know how much of my allotted limit/GB's have i used? or in other words how much more i can use etc. For which none of those people back-end could comprehend information in their systems. Being pre-paid it would show a balance of Rs. 2 only ( again something they dont understand) whereas your recharge amount would be whtever it is like my Rs.650/- which also never was in their system.
Jan 2010 my 1 month got over, with the customer care still clueless about my limit etc. and i didnt get my next recharge immediately which should be ok in prepaid coz that is part of the facility, that it should work whenever i want i can recharge and use.
Feb 2010 i put in another Rs. 650/- after which whenever i plug in the USB and try to connect it would show that my "user-name password invalid on the domain". Called cust-care maharashtra whose IVR rattles off in marathi ( i am not a marathi hence cannot comprehend what the lady is saying)... call the darn agent who sold me the device and he says some utterly stupid stuff and refuses to pick my calls. Called Delhi customer care who refuse to identify a Maharashtra number under their domain, for work i later travel to Bangalore, where the customer care tells me "Madam, i have not made the product" ...
Somehow get through the Delhi customer care number who dont reject customers based on the region the number belongs to ... and they as usual are clueless and say that it is a technical error. called technical team and they ask me to re-install. i do, the thing again doesnt work shows same error ....
Found an alternate source of internet and hence wasted my Rs.650/- on the photon and let it be till about May 2010 end when i wanted the photon functional. Another series of locating dealers in delhi ( they tinkering with my photon USB and even my laptop for possible errors) dont have a clue on how to get it functional. Found Tata Indicom technicians in an area called Vikaspuri in Delhi and they tinker with my Photon and check its circuits etc aftr like a 2 hour wait ( where other really frustrated indicom users were screamin around and having a verbal duel with the highly complacent staff) ..... the device they say is fine and hand me 1800266121 as another Photon specific customer care number to call... i call the number to a highly idiotic/dumb executive who again cannot comprehend information i ask.. what is my usage? why is the number blocked? what does my error mean? what am i supposed to do next? - the answers were in the tune of " ummmmmmmm... repeat the error" ( like 20 times), " check your laptop/system", "your balance is 0", "your user-name and pswd will be told by our technical team", " we will escalate the matter" ... hehe they must have escalated and sent 1000's of emails to other equally dim-witted *^%##'s. The technical team is clueless on the phone on what to do and hence tell me that they will send somebody to my residence in 2 days by 9:33 am of the 2nd day... 1 day passes, i call em back to confirm time .. they ask me to wait till 9:33 am of day 2. Day 2 9 am i call to ask whether they gnna perform a miracle in 1/2 n hr and i really flip! ... he asks me to wait nontheless.... i mean HOW DUMB CAN THOSE PEOPLE BE?????!!!!![]()
... they send nobody and nothing is done!
i return to the Vikas puri technical centre of Tata Indicom and narrate what happened with the 1800266121 number provided.....now ask me to shuttle around to a Tata Indicom co-co centre i.e. True Value service where the Relationship executive clearly tells me that finding backend info is NOT his work and hence has a verbal duel with the cust-care on the phone and the technical person who sent me there. They "escalate" complaints against each other...i am in d meanwhile frying in the Delhi heat being made to run to and fro!!!
I threaten the technician and raise voice levels to subdue every other complainant in their office and he tells me he will ask a senior frm their Jail Road, Tilak Nagar ( delhi) office called Anjali to contact me "immediately"... hehe AS expected its the next day today ... and no "immediate" call from the lady ....
now buy and get stuck at your own peril!!!![]()
Pardon the intrusion, i am a Reliance guy, my only exchange with Tata was when they denied me a connection for "feasibility" reasons, and it turned out to be a good thing for me too.
I have said this on the You com subforum, and i say this here, why on earth don't you use the readily available online tools to determine the quality of your ISP and compare those test results instead of discussing your experiences subjectively. Unless of course, you are discussing customer support and billing related issues.

I am on the 600 kbps plan @ 649 plus taxes per month which includes a modem and landline telephone with 150 free calls, installed free of charge without any deposit. And 600 kbps does not mean 512 kbps.

Hi guys,
I have experienced very bad service provided by TATA Indicom.
I have taken TATA Indicom service twice and both the times the service was not good. Our internet connection goes down in night time, whereas works fine in day time(Which is very annoying). This happened from past 3 months or so. And forget about the wifi connection, it's really not that great, if you raise complain for disconnectivity then they(TATA Indicom Costomer care) will tell you that there are some building in between the receiver and transmitter that are affecting your connection(Which i feel is not genuine reason). And i have paid 1100 Rs/month which is higher than any other ISP with best services. They take the money in advance and then dont provide service because they are getting money so they dont worry in providing good service afterwards. I wont be going for TATA Indicom in future. So if you reading this thread of mine then please avoid going for TATA Indicom broadband(either Wired or Wifi) unless no other ISP is available in your Area.
]Really Worst ISP(TATA Indicom) i have ever experienced.
@Grimrocker: You've put it down pretty well. I was also lucky for quite a while, but not so lately.
Since the poll is closed, I'd just put in my rating here. In all fairness, I'd rate their service: 3.5/10.
It's surprising to see that there are a good 37% people complaining about the horrifying service of Tata Indicom, but we as qualified professionals are not ready to do anything about it. Let me ask you this. All of us are in a service industry today, with some minimal interaction with clients from other countries.
In our interactions with them, do you think they would take such nonsense from us and if not, then why are we taking all this? If we are in the habit of delivering great services why aren't these companies?
We need to raise a voice and a voice that can be heard. I can't see a reason as to why when so many people can complain, why can't we push these issues to a Tata Indicom and make them work on it. They would not leave us if we don't pay our bills so why should we leave them if they don't deliver.
We need to build the change and ensure we get what we are paying for. After all, we are not asking more, right?

In 2005 I got a Tata Indicom pre paid broadband (256kbps unlimited at that time). Later put a router to share 3-4 pcs at home with 386kbps unlimited .
I used to recharge Rs3000+ every 3-4months. I stay in heart of town .so I never had any down time issues. But I have seen lot of customers shouting at their office when I go to renew.
It was reliable and got a service rep with in 24 hours if there was a problem.
But Tata is expensive right now compared to airtel/reliance or BSNL.
Since we are using 2 USB broadband (Reliance & Tata photon) in our respective notebooks most of the time, stopped renewing tata wired broadband.
Right now no wired broad band at home. BSNL UL 1100 will be my choice if i need a wired broad band . ( but a pain in the ass to go to BSNL office, liason with JE, line men etc and get it done)
It isn't that good compared to bsnl but again the service of bsnl is very lame.
worst service, no tech competancy! I am planning to switch to BSNL as wieless modem wont work on TI connection....
very poor services in most cities, photon plus works for 1-2 hours a day in most supported cities,I have been to agartala, bangalore and currently in chennai, already my fav urls and torrents are blocked at 8-10kBps and when it was fine it used to work for 1-2 hours with decent speed in chennai at the time 3.30am of night to 5.30am in the morning alone,at agartala it used to work decent between 11-am to 1 pm in Noon and in bangalore it never gave me more than 200kbps(kilobits not bytes!!!!!) oh yes I am using 120 hours per month plan for 882rupees!!!!!I am speechless that their CCE for chennai don't even know what P2P is or torrent is!![]()

@ Tata Indicom
I have had first hand experience with your customer care and I personally wont recomend any of your products. I was a die hard fan of Tata sky but you did your best to make me think otherwise and you just succeed in doing that as well. The only Tata product I now use is Tata sky and that too because I have invested in a few of your set top boxes and it would cost me a lot of money to switch... Be assured I will make the switch as soon as the set top box economics changes in my favor.
Your Tata sky guys been deducting money from my account for over a year for the service they haven't been providing all this time and now you refuse to refund or even look into it.
