Rep Power: 3 | My friend has tata indicom broadband in pune and whenever I talk to him his first quote is that tata indicom provides totally **** service. Just stick with there mobile or landline dial up and never go for there broadband. |

Rep Power: 0 | I have decided to use TATA INDICOM broad band services for my internet connection, and the following are my experiences. I paid a sum of 1124/- for the 256 infiniti plan.I have submitted my pan card, and the identity card of my company, along with the check of HDFC. I think this was on the 27th. On the 29th I had a verification call, and the next day evening that is on the 30th evening at 3:00 when i was at my work place, I had this installation incharge ( Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao) come to my home for installation, and has called me from my dad's mobile ( my dad was in my house then), and informed me that he has installed. He never performed a browsing check, but he took a signature from my dad, saying that the installation is complete.(P.S: My dad is not aware of internet, and stuff). My dad asked him to open any website, and show it. And he said it will come within 15 minutes. And i came back home, and found it was not connected, and the data light on the modem was not responding.I called up mr chandrsekhar on the number he left in my house. He picked up the fone and said he will call me back after 10 minutes, after i reported the problem. I agreed to that and hung up the fone.And it was after one hour's wait that i had decided to call him back, as he has not turned up. I called him for about 25 times !!!, and he never picks up the fone, and it was already 9:30 by then.So i called up the customer care at 60607070 and registered a complaint. The next day morning on the 1st december, i called him again, and he does not pick the fone. And again, I have tried from a different number, and he picks up immediately.'Now he says he will come to my house at 12:00 in the noon'.I waited till 1:30 and no response yet. I called up the customer care guys, again, and they say they have registered an other complaint, and they will get back to me for sure that day. I waited. And now a guy comes to my house, and checks the information ( router settings) and asks "ME" what happened. I had to tell him the whole story again, and he says, That is not his responsibility, and it is only the job of the installation guy, and goes away. Now i call him, form the same number which i have called that dat morning( chandrasekhar rao). Now he does not pick up the fone. I had called him several times. I went out and tried from my friend's mobile, and he picks up the fone, now. I kept my cool, and asked him an update about the same, he says, he will make sure, it is done that day, and claims he has known the problem area. I havent disturbed him till that evening. In the evening at 6:00 I call him, and he cuts thye fone, I call him again, and some one else picks up the fone, and says, He is not there !!!. December 2nd: Morning i tried calling him, and he never picks up the call!. I called the customer care again, two times the same day, and they say, somebody will be calling me and they never never called me. I waited, under the benifit of luxury that its a sunday. December 3rd: Monday, evening, Mushtaq calls me from the TATA INDICOM office, and he starts trouble shooting, on fone. I asked him to go to my place, He says, its simple and refused to come to my home.As i was in office, I asked him to call me by 7:00. He did!( good sign atlast, somebody stands on his word). I was there at my computer, after two hours of trouble shooting, he identifies, that wrong cabling was done.( after he realises that the DSL(link) light does not respond, even if he downs the link from his end.And now he says, the cabling guy, will go only in the morning, as there will be no lights.as it is already 8:30.I had no other choice, but to go back to my office, as i cant connect to VPN any more.Mushtaq says, that the cabling guy will only go at 10:00. And he says, that i will get a call and then, They will come down to my house. I told him that i will go late to the office, the next day, and he promised, more sincerely. December 4th:its 10:00 , and no one calls me, its 11:00 no one calls me, 11:30 i call up the tata indicom, technical guys landline number ( which i have stored the previous day) and they pick up the fone, and cut it right away, for 3 times, while i have continuously been calling them, for about 10-15 times. Now i havent given up, after abnout 30 times, mushtaq picks up the fone, and says " yes". I kept my cool, despite all the frustration, i have. I identify myself, and ask him about the update and he asks, some KK to tell him the status, gets back to me, and says," I have told them now, they are leaving, and now you will get it in an hour.If not please let me know." I asked him to give me his mobile number, and he says he doesnt have the mobile number. And then, after requesting, he gives me his mobile number.After one hour nothing happened. I call him up, and then he says, he will send an engineer. And the engineer never came, I had to start to my work place, and i Left to the office. I call him from my office, he claims, it has been done, and i ask my folks at home to test. AND guess what sir? ( it's the same).I called the guy, he says, the engineer is on his way. I called him after 2 hours, he said, the engineer just started he will come. At 7:00 I call him, and he says, within thirty minutes the guy will be at my house, and again and again, I have to call, them, They never take accountability and call m e.I am not a very rich person, And i have spent about 110/- on my mobile. "ONLY" for these calls. Now he too has started disconnecting the fone.I had no option and have decided to ask for refund. Now, i call the customer care, guy ( with a balance of 25 rs). I am kept on wait ( understandable). I try to reach the billing department, to ask for refund.He says, he sees my log and starts apologizing, with which i have been vexed up already. I quickly asked him for refund or to put to the supervisor. Now, he says, one sec, and puts me on to Dubey form tech team, and this guy ( inspite of having the complaint logs on his screen) asks me, about the lights status, as if i dont know anything about it,and asked him to transfer me to the supervisor, he put me on wait until he gave me his, complaint number ( which i dont care about). I explained him that my mobile balance is very low, and asked him to put across the, supervisor, immediately, he wouldn;t do that. He wants to give the complaint number, ( like he is trained before his call centre career started).And that guy never comes up.,...... AND MY BALANCE IS left with only 60 paise. I call up Mushtaq on his number, and he JUST DISCONNECTS his fone. And now, after a while ( that is when i have started writing thispost( which took about half an hours productive time of mine, and ofcourse, it would take the same productove time of your's)i call him up and he disconnects., and even now, when i am writing this , and there you go " switched off this time. From the legal point of view, i can penalise these guys in the consumer court, and also under the sections 24 and 415 for cheatign --THATS "TATA" INDICOM!!! |

| Platinum Member | I did not wish to sign-up with Tata Indicom because they offered pre-paid plans only. Secondly, I did not wish to have another cable coming into my home. Thirdly, all my friends told me that BSNL service is good (and that was before I looked up on opinions regarding BSNL on internet including this site). Later on actually, internet results gave me bad feedback but I was willing to go with my friends' inputs. Lastly, and I think I posted this on some other thread, Tata Indicom could not promise me the deal that they made with my employers. They made a corporate deal with my employer and it was announced in our company. When I signed up, they came back 15-20 days later that they cannot provide connection in my area. After six months or so, they called me and said that they could now provide me a connection. But they said that they provided pre-paid connections only to home users and they could not provide the same rates that they had promised in the corporate deal with my company (said that the deal had expired). So I decided not to go with Tata. My friends who have signed up with Tata Indicom (with the corporate rates) have not really complained so far. So, apart from that, I cannot comment.

Rep Power: 2 | I have been Tata's customer for 6 months now...connection is bad, service terrible. You will get 0 response to your issues, no one to escalate to, very frustrating. They just don’t care. Maybe their focus is in diff section. Individual customer..never take this service. |

Rep Power: 0 | I've been using Tata Indicom Broadband for nearly 2.5 years now (Prepaid). I would rank their Customer Service as Bad. Particularly when it comes to Service engineers doing service at your premises. So if you have a Tata Indicom connection pray to God that no physical problem arises. The reason I have ranked the service as 6 is because of the Standard speed I get 24/7. At all the times I get the promised speed. I mean Upload as well as Download. Other service providers I believe use ADSL technology, where the upload speed is very less compared to DSL. Also other providers share the connection with other customers, so the bandwidth is shared. So through out the day whenever the connection works I get the standard speed of 32KBPS for my 256KbPS connection. *Edit* I'm from Bangalore. Last edited by ksaravanakumar; 03-02-08 at 01:30 PM. Rep Power: 0 | To be frank, I have been using Tata indicom (VSNL) for last couple of years in Pune. I think their service rocks as far as the connection speed, download and upload speed is concerned (U get the speed what u have been commited). The only problem I see with them is the time it takes to resolve any problem. There's no local no, u have to call up there customer care, they will log the call and will tell u that the problem should be looked after by 24/48 hrs But then the resolution is very much in the hands of engineers who take forever eternal time to visit ur residence All in all, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Tata Indicom 1. 10 in terms of connection speed. 2. 4 in terms of problem resolution 3. 6 in terms of continuous uptime. 4. 2 in terms of their billing department. Rep Power: 0 | I had TataIndicom's broadband connection during June to August last year. I was staying in the Sanjaynagar area in Bangalore. It was a prepaid connection of Rs. 3034 for 6 months. I was pretty happy with their connectivity along withthe internet speed they provided (though the link was down 2 times and each time they took 7 days to fix up the problem) Now, the problems started when I had to shift to another location. I called up their 60607070 number and asked about the shifting of connection to the new address I was going to and they said that I have to just fill up the online "Shift Of Location" form and my issue would be taken care of by paying just Rs. 500 as shifting charge. This was mid to last of August last year. I did as instructed and promptly received an email saying that there is no feasability in my area (though their portal showed that they provide connection in my area, pin code - 560020). I again called up the customer care and asked what do I do now. They said that none of the ports are free and they will inform me as sson as there is a feasability!! I waited for their call and after 2 months I decided to call them up again. This time the guy said that its not their responsibility and transferred my call to some technical department. The lady on the other side called herself Udaya. I asked what is my next course of action as I still had around Rs.1700 worth of netspace left in my account. She was point blank rude and said that they can't provide the connection. I asked her then what about the refund? She said that it's unprofessional from TataIndicom's part to offer any refund. So its a point blank cheating!! Now, as I needed a net connection badly, I just applied for a new connecction again with TataIndicom, and this time I receive an email saying that there feasability in my area. In due course, a guy from them visits me to ccollect the cheque and documents. I asked him repeatedly whether they would be able to provide me the connection. He said that it wont be a problem and they will send the cheque back to me if they are not able to provide the connection. He comes after a week when am at office and calls me from my brother's phone saying that it will be difficult to provide a wired connection in my house and I should opt for their Wmax connection (I stay in the 1st floor of a 3 storied building)! I said that I know what is Wmax and its too costly for the service that I will get and said that I have specifically asked for a wired connection. I blasted him for pushing me towards the Wmax thing they have and he said that they will be providing me with the wired connection. After 5 days I get a call from some other guy saying that I have got no alternative but have to go for Wmax. I asked then what was the reason for sending emails that confirmed feasability in my area, to which he said that it was not his responsibility. I asked my cheque back, whicch I was sure that I wont get back. I had to stop the cheque by paying the necessary fees, and went through all this for nothing. They have kept my 1700 bucks and I don't know how this company plan to flourish by cheating their customers' money. I would strongly reccommend against TataIndicom. Their after sales service is pathetic. They have a bunch of illliterate and uneducated persons who don't know the head or tail of customer satisfaction. Please think thosands of time before you plan to go for a TataIndicom Broadband Service!! |

Even I had similar experience I had tata indicom broadband connection since April 07 now I have shifted to new location and raised a service request to shift the broadband connection for that i got the reply that there is no feasibility in my area. When I asked them for refunds they said that they dont have refund policy on prepaid connection!! I was shocked as more than 1500/- was there in my account. They even said that they will collect the equipment if I do no renew the plan with in 2 months after my present plan ends. It was very frustating. Their customer care people are morons they simply do not look in to the problem. |

Rep Power: 2 | I've had a Tata Indicom broadband connection in Bombay for the past one year. I've opted for the 2mbps connection since there are three laptops at home working off the same wireless router. While the speed is excellent (when it works), there are two main issues I have with them: 1. Starting late Saturday night, and all through Sunday, their connection has a problem. Sometimes it just goes off and stays off all day, sometimes it connects and disconnects every 30 seconds. While I peg this on their regular maintenance schedules, it annoys me that I never get an email from them telling me that they're undergoing maintenance. 2. Their service is horrid. Call them with a complaint and their call centre guy will promise a resolution within 24 hours, which most often never happens. Ask to speak to someone technical or superior and their extension lines are always busy. They have a set of 'trouble shooting tips' that they obviously refer to from a book which never helps. (They also have no clues about Macs but then that's supposedly my fault for owning one). I've had to make friends with the local area technicians and now call them directly when I have a problem. But even their hands are tied and they can't take action without me lodging an official complaint, which for some bizarre reason takes three hours to get from the call centre to the technician. So while I'd give them a 10 for speed, it's a 6 for reliability and a 1 for service. Which works out to an overall rating of 5.67. |
