Have just booked the tata Vsnl Wimax Connection Because One Person Somesh Nair Area Manager of Firm Said Take the 256 unlimited Connection For 1000 + / mnth. You will get a download speed of 256 kbps / sec which i thought is a Bonus For a 256 kbps connection Because with a 256 Kbps unlimted connection Bsnl & even Airtel I used to get a Download speed of jus 30 kbps Max. Only with a 2 Mbps Connection do u get a Speed of 200 - 210 kbps Max. I was surprised But Somewhat Beleived it and took a six Month connection For 6068 Rs Which I thought was a good deal yesterday. Somesh assured me that i can block my check if i dont get a dwnload speed of 256 kbps min/sec. Vsnl will withdraw the amount only after the installation is done i was told . Have I done A good choice Advice my fellow Surfers. Thank you.

You have misunderstood. 256 kbps is 256 kilobits per second which translates to 32 kilobytes per second. All BB speeds are denoted in kilobits per second. You will get 32 kBps with T-I also.

Well Prashanth.... i had gone through the same phase. I was assured that I can stop payment if i am not satisfied with the service. They were quite true. The amount was deducted from the account a week after the installation. As far as the speed is concerned....the download speed was around 48kbps in peak hours.

this is something good... if they are taking the money after we are satisfied then it is something really and i would also like to try it...

Ya thats One thing good about them But i didnt want to take chances I cancelled the cheque Neways thanks to airtel they are much more economical have opted For Airtel as they are in my area Now..

Hi Parash, You have just done a great mistake..... beacause the service of tataindicom is worst .... i am also a usser of tataindicom and not getting the download speed of 256kbps even you have taken a plan of 256. If you have decided to use internet then you may continue with airtel because the customer service of tataindicom is also worst.. The response on our complain is very late... I think you could now make a better decision. One of my friend told me that we get the 4th part of download speed if we have taken a speed plan of 256. This implies to 128, 2MBps also. YOU can just try this and feel free to ask me if you required any type of query to be solved.

Tata has come a long way now and in my opinion their services have got better then they used to be when they first launched wimax back in September last year. Tata broadband comes in various packages with some upto 2 mbps and even more and the prices have gone down as well.
