Rep Power: 2 | The below details explained here is to connect or use your tata indicom postpaid broadband internet connection on more than 2 pc's either on lan or using wireless router. =============== Requirements 1. Tataindicom broadband postpaid connection. I recommend infinity 256kbps connection its very fast. 2. wireless port on your pc or laptop. 3. Linksys router ================ Tata indicom broadband postpaid comes with one static IP address. First note down all the settings which tata indicom person entered on your pc. For this double click the lan icon on your pc, open it, go to properties, click the internet protocol, now make a note of all the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, dns etc. Now first enter the ip address given in the default gateway in I.E, if dsl page opens its good, if not... change the default gateway IP address to 192.168.1.1 and make all the changes like this. 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1 dns 1- as entered previously dns 2- as entered previously click ok and restart pc now enter the ip address 192.168.1.1 in the internet browser, tata indicome dsl router telenet tndsl 2120 page will open, now under the settings, take backup of the settings and save the config file on your pc. After this close the browser Restart your PC. Now disconnect tata indicom telenet tndsl router from your pc or laptop, and connect Linksys router to your pc/laptop using lan only. Open the internet protcol properties and make sure default gateway is 192.168.1.1. Now open the internet explore and enter 192.168.1.1, this will open the linksys router page, you will asked to enter username and password, in most cases both username and password are 'admin', and in some cases keep username blank and password 'admin', now click on wan, and than click setup Enter the details in the following manner: internet connection type - static IP Internet IP address: enter as entered by tata indicome person 121.246.xx.xxx subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: enter as entered by tata indicome person 121.246.xx.xx static dns 1: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx static dns 2: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Optional settings router name: enter any name Host name: keep blank Domain Name: keep blank MTU : Auto PPPoE Passthrough: Disable Network setup Router IP Address Local IP address: use other than 192.168.1.1 series, i used 90.0.0.1, this will change your linksys router gateway IP address. So next time you have to login to router using 90.0.0.1 only. subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 server settings (DHCP) : disable Rest of the entries leave as it is. Now go to administrator settings and if you want to change username or password of your linksys router do it and click save settings. you will get message settings has been updated. Now open your internet protocol properties by open the lan network connections and make the following changes. 90.0.0.2 255.255.255.0 90.0.0.1 dns1 dns2 as supplied by tata person. Now again login to your linksys router, using the IP 90.0.0.1, enter username: admin and password. click on wan and make sure all the details entered, are listed there. Now disconnect, your linksys router from your laptop, make the following connections as described below. unplug all the routers. switch on the tata indicom dsl router telenet tndsl 2120, insert the lan wire on the lan port of the tata router, and another end enter at the internet port on the back side of the linksys router. Now switch on the linksys router and everything. You should see on the telenet, Lan light, link light, and power light on. on linksys wireless router you see, power light on, lan light on, and internet light on. ======================= Now if your laptop or pc is having wireless card or wireless port, make sure the wlan is having the following cofiguration 90.0.0.2 255.255.255.0 90.0.0.1 dns1 dns2 if you are using Lan, than connect lan wrire on one of the 4 lan ports of linksys router, and another end on your pc lan card. Now open the internet explorer, and open the site, it should open in a flash. if its not opening, follow all the above steps again and make sure you didnt miss anything. When tata indicom person first installs the router on your pc, he enters all the details of IP address on a paper, so keep it in safe place, because it contains your static ip address, gateway ip, and dns address too without this you can't connect to internet. If you misplaced it or forgotten the details, better call the tata indicom person. regards ZIAUL HAQUE Last edited by Admin; 03-21-08 at 03:01 AM. |

Rep Power: 0 | Hi, Thanks for your procedure. I have followed the procedure in the same way and unfortunately it is not working. When I plug the LAn wire from TATAIndicom Router to Linksys LAN port, and I change my computer IP to the 12.246.xx.xx range it works for sometime, and it stops again. How I can assign the DHCP IPs to my clients? ( I am using 2 laptops) and what range I should give for it to work? Thanks in advance. |

Rep Power: 0 | Hi Guys, I used to use MTNL for broadband, but needed to set up wireless net for the three laptops that we use at home. The mtnl guys were unable to configure the wireless router that they rent out, thats when I decided to switch to TATA. I need the spec of the Linksys router and cost also. also, netgear or linksys? will be goin to nehru place to purchase it today. After seeing others response with the configuration issues that they have faced with the router, I am getting second thoughts now. Guys, is it really so much of nuisance? Are the tata service guys helpful? Thanks Aman New Delhi. |
