Default I made a big mistake buying Tata Indicom

I had taken a 6 month pre-paid broadband service from Tata Indicom. Right from the word go, it was such a harassing experience. I would have never shouted at anyone in my life as I had repeatedly do with their support people!
I rarely was able to work on it for a few hours without getting disconnected quite frequently. I have taken the unlimited scheme as i do a lot of download. In order to utilize these downloads, i actually needed to leave the download overnight. But it was a complete waste as it used to disconnect in less than an hour.
I have called up their support and every time they take the complaint and give me the complaint number and nothing happens. When i call them few weeks later (as nothing has happened), they say that the complaint is closed! at least 15 such incidents would have happened in 3 months. My advise to anyone who is taking a prepaid; first take a 1 month scheme and see how it goes. Otherwise, you would be just wasting your money.
Finally, after repeated straining of my temper, their person finally visited me nearly 4 months later and he was not able to identify the problem! By then the harassment with the service was so much that I've given up. Let 2 more months pass and be done with it for ever!
I had MTNL Triband earlier. The major problem with that connection was that it goes dead quite often. And many times, I had to make an incoming call to get the line alive. Finally, i've given it up. To get rid of it was a another big harassment. I was made to run from one MTNL to another MTNL office to submit the stuff for disconnection. The modem was on rent and can u imagine they while submitting it back, they even wanted the installation CD back! They have put a penalty for not submitting that useless CD!
But, my experience with Tata Indicom was much worse. Surprisingly, a neighbour of mine who has Tata Indicom broadband does not find much problem with it. But he has the one with the modem (and one telephone connection). My connection was a cable one without modem. I dont know whether that made the difference.
Now, I dont know which ISP to go for. I think in India everyone rolls out their services without being ready and ultimately the consumer suffers. It is not just the money. The kind of mental agony one goes through when you find a service which disconnects 4-5 times an hour...

Yes Man. Tata Indicom Really sucks.. I have also subscribed for 6 months plan but hardly used it for 25 days. Yes 25 days only

I've given up after it and tried Airtel. I am using Airtel since 1.5 years and never got disconnected a single time even in rainy season. SO I highly recommended Airtel.

Default Indian broadbands-just want to sell a connection; by hook or by crook

Based on the suggestions, i'm trying to move to Airtel. very first interaction was adding to my woes. The person came collected by application and cheque and told me it will be installed in 3 days. nothing was heard from him for 10 days. i called up and was told that service is not available in my building. The person while collecting the cheque from me told me that everything is ready in my building. He was just interested in taking my cheque by hook or by crook! I've told him to return the cheque. its 10 more days and i havent got it back! I think, i will better not go for any broadband connection at home. I will just be wasting my time, money and anger!

    Default Go for BSNL...

    Hi Guys,
Better go for BSNL BB. Even I tried for Airtel but they said there is no empty slot in my area. Anyway my experience with BSNL is pleasant and I got landline connection and BB activation within week.

TATA is the Worst ISP out of 30 days there net works only for 15 days and i also had similar problem they close the complaint without asking me if the complaint is rectified and they put remark themselves that it is rectified.

Thumbs down Review:Tata Indicom Infinity 512 Postpaid Broadband

Firstly This plan is supposed to be a post-paid plan but thats a LIE. Its actually a prepaid plan. So in a sense all plans at Tata Indicom Boradband are prepaid plans!! DO NOT buy any postpaid plans from them!! All post-paid plans are in essense Prepaid.

I paid 6620 in advance for 4 months of rental. At the end of 3 month I was sent a bill of 1800 rupees. On calling the help-desk I was told that the 1 month is taken as advance rental and will be "adjusted" at the time of disconnection. On being asked if I disconnect the connection today, will the remaining amount be returned to me. The answer was NO. The amount will only be "adjusted". On asking him to clarify on what adjusted means, he asked me to write a e-mail to the customer support for clarifications. Needless to say, God only know when e-mails will be replied to.

Since the last date for payment at any time is 15 days after the bill is generated, you will never be able to make use of internet equal to the amount of money that you have paid. Thats pretty cool for Tata’s point of view. They are actually running the business on stolen money. Stolen because you never agreed to pre-pay.

The speed is supposed to be 512 kbps, but at any given point of time the download speed hovers about 50 kbps only.

The connectivity is really unreliable. It goes down many times a day and the common refrain from the customer support is that the "server is down". This is a NO GO for those running SOHOs.

The customer help desk is actually very unhelpful. Firstly it takes many calls to even get through to the billing department. Actually I realized that their work timings might be different from normal human beings. They are unreachable before 11 AM, and after 4:30 PM.

Go for it only at your own peril. :nono:

tata indicom should be banned.... they are just taking money for nothing....
it is a nightmare to get a connection from them.. first the connection is so bad and then the customer care service is also terrible... on top of that the people who come to repair the connection are like mafia ppl... if u speak a bit loudly with them for their ineffeciency they will roll up their sleeves.. so spread the word that NO ONE SHOULD TAKE INDICOM CONNECTION.....
