i have a tata indicom 256k night unltd plan....i have been able to download at speeds over a 100k which then suddenly drop down to even below 30k.....i want to know if there is any way for me to bypass the restrictions set so that i can download higher speeds.....my connection is through a modem....telenet tndsl 2120......if there is anyone there who can help me out with this as to whether this is possible do let me know.....just4kix, ive seen you help out alot of people......hope you can do the same for me......thanks in advance

If you are getting 30kbps transfer rate then it is what you are paying for and 30 is the correct speed (256/8=32)
apart from this if you will try to bypass and reliance comes to know about it then it can put you in some trouble

i already know the math...u dont have to explain it to me....i know thats the speed im supposed to be getting but if it can be better y not.....anyways everybody knows that these guys are basically ripping us off.....n its a tata connection not reliance

Some questions:

1. Where are you trying to download from? Torrent? RS? Some website? In case of torrents, I am assuming that port is forwarded and there are enough seeds?
2. When you say speed drops from 100 kbps to 30 kbps or so, what is the duration of the 100 kbps speed and how soon does it drop to 30 kbps?
3. In case of RS and other downloads have you tried using download managers such as DAP or IDM?
4. Finally, what makes you feel that speed is throttled? Do you experience slow broseing also?

It will be impossible to increase speed more than 256 kbps from outside. There are no modem tricks. Speeds can be changed by people who control the network from inside. Unless it is hacked into, this is not possible and we cannot discuss hacking at per forum rules (and I do not know how to).

i get the 100k download speed downloading through the browser....firefox 3.0.....the speed stays for a few minutes...its constant...n then it suddenly drops down....when i try downloading thru utorrent i get a decent speed of about 25k most of the time......however the ports are not forwarded properly....i know there is a tutorial for forwarding ports.....i have looked it up on portforward.com.......the modem i use is on the list given however the interface is very different from the one that is shown so that is also a problem and i just cannot figure it out as the options given are completely different......i have also tried using the software that they provide for doing it automatically but to no avail as it does not list my modem in that
