    Default Tata indicom people have cheated me!!!

    I would like to complain about Tata Indicom.
    I wanted an internet connection. The Photon+ connection.
    When I called Tataindicom for enquiry the customer care agent told me that the Photon+ device will cost me Rs. 3500/- and they will send there person to get the form filled and take the cheque. First of all the person never came. For 2 weeks I hada to wait. Then I complained about it on the Tata indicom website. After that they called me up and the person came within 3 days. Now, They told me about a new scheme, that, if I pay Rs. 500/- extra then I will get 2 months of internet usage free (That plan is 10GB per month plan). Now I gave another cheque of Rs.500/-. The customer care agent told me that wothin 7 days the verification will be done and the device will be activated.

    Now, 1 week passed and no one called up. Now I called them and they tell me that the person had come to my place and I didn't pick up the phone. Now, finally the person cam after 2 days and installed the device on my Lappy. and activated the connection. The internet was running fine. It was giving good signal and good speed.

    Now, I was using internet happily, and suddenly after 13 days, My internet got disconnected. I called up the customer care and they told me that my connection has been barred due to bill of Rs. 4800/-. I WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT. They told me that my previous month bill is Rs. 2500/- and the next month credit limit has exceeded Rs. 1000/-.

    NOW EVERYONE READ CAREFULY.
    My connection was activcated on 11-June-2009. The bill i recieved was of Rs. 2500/- and the billing was done for 6 days of usage. bill was generated upto usage of 16-June-2009. and they had selected the billing cycle of 17-May-2009 to 16-June-2009. They said that billing cycle is chosen and it was told to you at welcome call.
    NO people it was never told to me about the billing cycle.
    They had just told me that I have 2 months of internet usage free, and there is a limit of 10GB for one month, beyond which the data usage is chargable.

    Now I was using internet as per my usage, I neede more earlier and I could compensate in next few days. Since I had 1 month time.

    ONE more thing, they install a software on the lappy which is used for connecting, and it also shows the data usage.
    It shows in three formats:
    1. The data usage per day.
    2. The data usage per month.
    3. The data usage per year.

    now in that software my data usage is showing only 3.5 GB of usage. And The first month has still not completed. Now thay have given me a bill of 6 days of usage (That too Rs. 2500/-) And they have also charged me for the next month usage that is for the next 4 days (Rs. 1800/-) total only 10 days of usage. And it is costing me more than Rs.4000/- that is rediculous.
    WHERE IS THE FREE USAGE FOR 2 MONTHS.

    I also tried to talk to the nodal officer. but she never gets the time to talk to anyone. And I also wrote an email to her, she dosent have time to read it either.

    PEOPLE I CAN ONLY WARN YOU TO NOT TAKE TATA INDICOM CONNECTION. THESE PEOPLE ONLY KNOW HOW TO EXTRACT MONEY FROM THE CONSUMERS. THEY ARE NOT HERE TO PROVIDE ANY SERVICE.

    Just read my complaint once more. Only 10 days of internet usage has cost me more than Rs.8000/-
    It is my humble request people don't take Tata indicom. You will only feel cheated and you will lose a handsome amount of money.

    Billing issues is a recurring problem with TATA indicom.

    Hi there !

    wow that must surely have been a harrowing experience. Tata indicom has a really good Consumer forum on their site. It would definitely be worth the while posting your concern there.

    I am quite sure it will get addressed within no time

    billing with tata indicom is always a problem.. also in my city they do not have a customer care center location.. which is bad again

    understand the difference.

    download speed and download limit are expressed in megabits (mb) lower case b.

    while softwares on ur computer always show MegaBytes(MB) of data.

    one Byte = 8 bits.

    for example, my download speed is 2mbps(bsnl broadband). however, on utorrent, i only see about 220KBps at best.

    220 KBps = 1760 kbps, which is acceptable, and very close to the advertised 2mbps or 2000 kbs.

    furthermore, there is a discrepancy in the calculation of kilo, mega, giga, etc.
    all computer books tell us to multiply with 1024,

    so,
    1kb = 1024 b
    1mb = 1024kb = 1048576 b

    and so on.

    however according to the international standards web site,

    a kilo bit or kb = only 1000 bits
    1024 bits make a kibibit,
    1024 kibibits make a mibibit,
    and so on.

    IEC prefixes and symbols for binary multiples

    so, the options are open for exploiting customers. it is not just Tata photon, i used to have Tata plug to surf, and reliance netconnect and had same issue with both. i switched over to an unlimited plan, and used to download for days together.

    this unlimited option is not available for photon users, though.

    i am too totally frustrated with tata photon+ billing and customer care...i dont know what to do..they have also cut my connection...

    Thumbs down Tata indicom is fooling photon+ customers

    Well I recently purchased tata photon device.Now I am planning to go out of India for a year.I called up the service center asking about how to disconnect the services thinking that I will be able to reactivate the device after an year,what I hear from them was shocking.They told me that if the device is deactivated for more than 3months it becomes useless and I cannot reactivate it after 3months.I further asked them what if I resubmit new documents of identity and address and after verification can they give me a new account no and a new photon no as I dont want to go with the same account no after one year and there reply was no.again they replied back the same thing no matter what if the device is disconnected for more than 3months it can not be used again even after submitting new documents and they cannot provide a new account no on old device.This sucks big time as once you buy the photon device you have to use it no matter if you dont want too.No information regarding this thing is available on the website and while buying no body informs you.So only buy this device if you want to continue it for life time, which i am sure no one will.So be ready to waste your Rs.3500 sooner or later.

    Angry Unable to pay photon+ bills

    I think the Tata Indicom people must be sleeping in thier office . I have been complaining about my photon+ billing problem from last 3 months and they are still unable to solve this problem. Each and every time I have to call them and they give some non-sense solutions , which I have already tried and did not work.
    And I dont know why they recruit such people with out knowing any computers . First time when I went to buy photon+ for my Macintosh, You know what they told me ? " Sorry sir, Photon+ is only for computers, not for Machines". and another " WAT ? what is Macintosh ? " Now I had to explain all this.

    Of course some senior or male employers are good. Female service girls are just there to attract customers. Theirs no use talking with them, unless you are free.

    And now they are billing me even thought they have disconnected my photon+ due to non- payment of bill which is there problem.
    Should I pay the bill( minimum rental ) for these non usage months ?
