how to share the internet with a desktop pc wirelessly when the laptop is connected to internet through Tata indicom Photon+???
The easiest and quickest is to get a 3G gateway which will share the modem for you and then you can connect to the router either via ethernet or wifi. There are some of these devices for sale on ebay. Search 3g router or evdo. I have purchased one as I was looking for a similar solution and I'm very happy with it.
I got mine from ebay from a guy called 3g-guy. The unit I got was the portable usb powered one HM-433R. I use it with the reliance EC1260 modem and am very happy with it. I also got the car adapter with it so I can use it in the car and have my laptop and iphone connected at the same time. The speed is very good.
I also have a friend who got the other model from the same guy off ebay, Tenda I think the router is called. He got it for home and is using the Tata photon + card. Again he is very happy with it.
Hope this info helps.
your information was useful but is there any less costly way. i am using photon+ rite now.
I looked for weeks to find a cheaper solution and this was the best I could find. Everything else I looked at was Rs 1500 and more than what I finally got my device for.
If you really want a reliable sharing device to work with your card I would recommand one of these.
it is nice to be able to share a wireless modem with a desktop.but what about the drop in speed?the same way 4 laptops can share the BSNL DNA211-1 wi-fi modem.but there is a noticeable drop in speed.it is ok with 2 laptops.thje same way 2 laptops can share an EVDO datacard within a distance of 30 metres.
Hi Chaman!may i know the speed of ur photon+ modem?i used a reliance netconnect modem for a shortwhile.it was only 156kbps.i availed the free 1 month period of that modem given to me by my nephew.after that i returned it.now i hv BSNL wifi bb conn with DNA211-1 wifi modem

When you add more computers on any connection the speed reduces, but 9 times out of 10 you get good speeds as not all users that are connected to the internet are actually using it.
Today I was using my reliance connection with the router I got off ebay with 4 other associates at a trade show here in Mumbai and the speed was good. We were all able to do our email and basic web surfing no problems at all. One of the guys was even doing Skype with his wife and kids in New York while the the rest of us were doing email etc and there were no issues at all!
This was the biggest test I had ever done with my reliance card and router, and it rocked. Again it saved our lives as the internet at the show we were at was really bad. We are now kicking ourselves for paying the Rs 10,000 for 3 days. Next year we won't be doing that. We'll use the router
In my mind the router has already paid for itself![]()
Here is a link to the 3G-Guy on Ebay.
He is selling the HM433R that I purchased along with another couple of models that support the BSNL EVDO ZTE 8700 modems.
The guy has some feedback now on Ebay as well. 3 reviews and all very happy, just like me

Its also available from eBay US for a much cheaper price.
3G WiFi 802.11B/G Wireless Router HSDPA/HSUPA/CDMA EVDO - eBay (item 220506076211 end time Dec-05-09 08:24:42 PST)
I'll be ordering one soon.![]()
I have an Airlive Air 3G router and Tata Photon Card but haven't been able to make them work together. Could someone share what settings to make on the router?
The Photon card works when connected to PC. So no issue with the card or the id/password settings.
