Thread: Understanding download count

I am baffled by the tata photon plus the way they calculated the downloaded bytes count. My first day count shows me 34 MB of download. On the first day I checked the speed of tata photon I visited youtube and other heavy sites.

Later it regularly shows my usage 20 to 30 MB per day sometimes 64 MB also ...
I am baffled by the count ... I use it for my mail checking and do not down load any thing or dont visit any heavy sites ... I dont understand how could my usage in few minutes go into MBs????

I want to know the details of my usage and also want to know how do they calculate ??? Where do I go ???

You can ask for this problem from tata only,they are the one who can assist you,however toll free number may not be helpful,visit their office!

Till the time you get a solution you may use an independent bandwidth meter. It will show you your usage. You can counter check with the value by Tata Indicom.

You need to understand their system, their system takes upto 48 hours to reflect the absolute data usage. Like if today is 02/08/2010 , your yesterday's usage i.e 01/08/2010 might show up only 10 MB , and if check tommorow i.e 03/08/2010, then the usage might show up 100 mb. This is just an example to show.

As you said that you are not using any heavy application now, but still usage is high. I would like to say that many services use net services in background like windows update etc. which silently kill your usage.

Well, I would advice you to use a good internet security program so that you can block unwanted applications from accessing internet, and also use net monitoring software like meetdilip said.

Well, there are just some suggestions from my side, however there may be some flaw from Tata Side.
