I bought Tata photon Mobile broadband pre paid pack 4-5 months back (rs 2399+100) at Hyderabad.
why I bought Tata photon was the balance can be carried forward by a small recharge with 30 days validity.
I usually recarge 1350 (10 gb) .On the 29th day ,usually i would have consumed anywhere between 6-8gb.So I will pay Rs 200 for 300 mb and stretch the balance for another 7-10 days. When the balance falls below 400 mb (my maximum daily usuage) repeat same Rs 1350 recharge and so on.
A month back I was considering spending extra Rs 2000 for MTS as they are offering a good deal for Rs1000 (15GB ) -(all pre paid-no post paid discussed- ,but no balance carry forward options)
I read your thread recently for info on BSNL 3G (Rs 2500 data usb +rs 179 starter sim + rs 4200 for 6 months un limited pre paid ).
Now I have made up my mind some what to go for bsnl 3g by next month and keep photon as a stand by for me or for my kid .
I usually use it in secunderabad, bangalore or chennai (mostly heart of the town).
I am writing this from my lodge at Triplicane chennai .I am getting 412 kbps down load and 212 upload. Iam using Acer Travel mate 5320 Notebook (3 yrs old with 2 gb ram) Guess Iam lucky beacuse all my locations are in the main road and near tower.so speed wise iam happy and I only access us/london based banks and brokers. no unneccessary browsing,no music etc.
My experience of using Tata photon in the chennai-Hyderabad ,chennai-bangalore, bangalore-hyderabad trains is somewhat ok (only at raliway stations when it stops) . Over all speed -can not complain for 2G.
If I have to re do it again(Pre paid)- I will go with MTS or BSNL 2g/3g if the network is there in your area (as price is cheaper for pre paid )
hope this helps for new prospective customers.
