Unhappy speed inadequate and usage overstated

I use a tata photon+ connection in kolkata, account no 9239555132,unlimited plan of 5 gb with rental of rs 850pm.

The truth is that wheneber I have connected to speedtest.net,the max speed(d/l) I have got is only 1.14 Mbps and average of only 0.46 Mbps.

I called up customer care,a person called Sanatan Hazra came and wasted 1 hr by checking speed and opening gmail at least 20 times, something that any1 can do.

He called up systems, who told me that d/l speed of 0.3 Mbps is adequate, which is absurd.

Now on 12 sep,I find that speeds have been reduced to 155 Kbps, bcoz we are supposed to have reached 5 gb usage.

I could not figure out how without downloading any movie or making video calls with skype,,one can use up 5 gb in only 10 days.Surely the usage meter is wrong.

The Customer Care is hardly co-operative and so I joined this forum so that some sort of help can be got from here.

    Thumbs down

I have used Photon prepaid for quite some time and I used to get daily usage by sms in to my cell atleast twice a day. see whether post paid can do the same .I doubt it. In my experience usage meter was correct. Not a single MB over charged. Your pc may have virus .
Get "Networx" which will give detailed daily MB usage.
I spent rs 2400 for the usb stick long time ago-now it is rs 1500. I keep it alive with a small balance to keep an additional data stick for emergencies (or for kids)
I use Voda (ZTE) 3570Z (3.6 mbps) and Aircell (Huawei) E1750 (7.2 mbps) data card nowadays with any 3G sim
My best advice ,first get rid of the Photon post paid and go pre paid.
That itself will take 1 or 2 billing cycle. They dont want loose Golden Gooses that fast.
If you dont want to spend money for Doctor or BP medicine, discontinue it and get a 3G -7.2 mbps stick straight away. (Rs 1700-1900 ) or get from ITgadgets .com Rs 1425 for Huawei E173.

Airtel 5 Gb- @ rs 1250 -expensive but you will get average 2-4 mbps (2000-4000 kbps!) Voda also ok. Just try out Rs 750-3Gb-3G pack with any operator first.
