    Angry Tata Photon Plus are cheater!

    Hello,

    My Tata Photon Plus Number: 9219624438

    I bought Tata Photon Whiz in September, 2009 and on March, 2011 I upgraded this same number into Tata Photon Plus. I had plan of 950 Unlimited. It means till 5 GB (Download and Upload) I will get speed of 3.1 Mbps (Which by of course I never get). I get speed around 100-110 kbps (kilo bits per seconds) till 5 GB. After this my speed changes into 155 kbps. In this way I got 144 kbps or 18 kBps (kilo Bytes per seconds). It’s fine until December, 2011. I pay Rs 800/- per month for this plan.

    Now, from January, 2012 they reduce my speed from 155 kbps to 30-40 kbps after 10 GB data uses. They are saying me that you exceed 10 GB data so that we deduct your speed just wait for this month and you will get your speed back. This is what customer care telling me.

    Now, I went to Tata Photon Store and explain them my problem. In return they said there has no such plan and there is no way we can put capping after 155 kbps. So, if there is no capping then why I’m getting lesser speed. I was determine to close the connection but then sales girl said we are filing your complain let technician visit your home and fix the problem. I agreed.
    Next, technician visit my home and advised to change the device. I burned Rs 50/- petrol and visit their technical office and bring new device. After activation I am getting 20-30 kbps speed. I called the technician and he forwards my call to his senior and he explains me that you will get 30 kbps speed because you already use 13 GB data. How came they change their plan like this? It is completely insane and I would say it is against their policy to change the plan in middle. Even if you change the plan then admit I can definitely close this.

    My billing cycle is 21th of month and 10th is last date of payment. I’m getting this problem since 3, January, 2012. I already paid my bill of this month. But for closing this connection I need to pay 800/- again which I don’t think needs to pay by now because of this forgery. Even I need to pay then I use net for 12 days yet and stop using it now.

    My request is if anyone has advice to file this case of forgery against Tata Photon, please tell me.

    As a past photoner I am telling you you have no proper signal in your place.

    you should have asked for a demo in your home in the first place.
    One can get 512 kbps to 700-800 or even 1000 kbps in photon plus if the signal is good.
    close your post paid connection or change it to pre paid in case you want to use it in travel (no roaming charge but you will get say 512 kbps in main city centres)
    be smart and get a pre paid GSM 3G sim of any operator present in your area and check signal strength by putting a small 3G data recharge.

    The photon data card is CDMA propritory and useless otherwise.

    Get a7.2 mbps GSM data card below rs 1000. Aircel is selling Huawei 1750 7.2 mbps card in special deal. it can be easily unlocked.
    In south Aircel,Airtel,Vodafone 3G is good. all of them are selling 5 Gb for say rs 750.
    Airtel/voda Gprs gives easily 160-230 kbps. for 155 kbps you dont need so called 3G. Edge network will do.

    Thanks Bro! Thats a nice plan, I live in UP west, I do not know if have this plan in my city, I'm going to check now.

    Can you tell me few point what would I do except closing this lame connection.

    1. I bought Tata Photon Whiz device at 2400/- for 950 Unlimited Plan
    2. Next I upgrade it to Tata Photon Plus at 1000/- for 950 Photon Plus 5 GB Unlimited Plan.
    3. Now they changed the plan and policy which is kind of fraud and according to this it slower my speed 155 kbps (Kilo Bits per Seconds) to 30 kbps.

    950 Unlimited Plan:
    Free usage at speeds up to 3.1 Mbps till 5 GB. After this Unlimited Usae at speeds up to 155 Kbps.

    I sign and bought the device for this plan and used it for 9 months.

    New Updation on this Plan:
    After 10 GB your speeds decreases to 30 kbps and retain till next bill cycle.

    Now, I'm going to close this connection but because I'm already in middle of month I have to pay 800/- for this.

    How can I get me device cost money back which has no use once I closed this connection?

    For last time let me clear you what happens and what is my plan for which I signed up with device cost.

    1. 950 5 GB Unlimited Plan: 3.1 Mbps speed till 5 GB, after this speed retains to 155 kbps till next bill cycle.

    New amendment in your plan if I cross 10 GB my speed will slower to 30 kbps.. for this I never signed up and you made this changes since this month. Explain me why this only for me? I'm writing this mail in 30 kbps!!! speed not in 155 kbps!

    Please check again in your record what kind of this insanity with me and can you revert my money with device cost also if you can close my connection without giving this month bill!

    So that I can buy another device because once I closed it is useless..

    I also agree with this.....
    I m also facing the same problem.. and I asked the CC,, They have told me that this changes are made with effect form Jan 2012... Now Im also Planning to change the connection, that they are simply eating our money with out giving proper bandwidth... I will move to BSNL EVDO.......

    Scam ! Scam ! Scam !

    I am facing the same problem since past 3 days. I have been scratching my head coz I could't even open Google easily. I made a phone call tocustomer care yesterday, they said there is a change in policy(so called Fair Usage policy or crap in simple words). They told me that 'there is change in policy and you will get 32kbps after 7GB download. I said its not possible you can't change existing plan, this is cheating. Then, i made about 3 calls to Customer care to confirm, sadly it was true. Here is now what they are offering now -

    5Gb (cap)-3.1Mbps
    after 5Gb you will get 155Kbps to download 2Gb. Its means total 7Gb, after that you will get a speed of about 32kbps- pathetic . Now my mobile GPRS plan is much faster than my Tata Photon Plus dongle. Very much disappointed by Tata photon Plus service.

    I made up my mind to disconnect my connection tomorrow. I am thinking to switch to Airtel or may be Vodafone.

    I read that Airtel offers 3G speed upto 6 GB and after that according to fair usage policy the speed switch to 20Kpbs approximately. Are they really providing speed upto 20Kpbs. What is your experience ?

    I need a USB modem that must have unlimited plan with aprox. 20 Kbps after data usage such as Airtel.

    Also let me know, how much speed(in Kpbs after FUP) do you get on a Vodafone dongle.

    Talking We need to have a wailing wall here in IBB for Tata photon !!

    Every day so many are coming here and crying about Tata photon,Tikona, Reliance Netconnect and MTS ....
    we need to have a seperate Emergency ward for all these poor souls.

    I dont know why they can not take a small loss of rs 1000-2000 (data card price) and discontinue instead of incurring rs 800-1000 monthly plan (post paid/prepaid) price and suffering!!

    After FUP 30-60 kbps is a cruel joke.

    GPRS speeds from Voda,Airtel are the best(160-220 kbps) but their Gprs plans iteself costing Rs 98 for 1 GB.
    I have not used Aircel/BSNL/Docomo GPRS plans. those who do ..chip in with the speeds you get ( not the occassional 2g-3g trick)
    check Uninor Gprs signal strength in your homes (may not work every where while travel) .. 6 GB for Rs 90 or so.
    I get 160-220 kbps most of the time.

    Keep a 3G dongle and keep a carry forwardable 4 GB/6 GB 3G data pack on pre paid sim and use for important stuff. Use Gprs for browsing may be!

    Talking How can I use my existing Tata Photon plus Device?

    I checked today when I open my Tata Photon Plus device. I can open its slot and inside this there are two slots.

    1. For inserting SD memory Card..
    2. For inserting Sim Card..

    Is there any way I can use this dongle with other subscriber sim card like (Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel etc)?

    If I can use this existing dongle with other network, that would be great and if possible how can I use this dongle with other subscriber sim?

    Angry photon + making me crazy!!!

    M getting the same problem and this is eating my head! I can't even search something in google!I have a postpaid 950 5 gb unlimited plan. yesterday, i downloaded a 71 mb file and guess what, it took me 6 hrs!!!! my average down speed is i think about 1.5 kbps!! I called the customer care and they said i have crossed the 7 gb mark, so the speeds are now upto 32 kbps from 155 kbps and that my max speed will be retained after 23 jan, i.e my next billing cycle.. Now i really can't handle this speed for 4 more days. When the speeds were capped to 155 kbps, we could atleast browse, now, its almost impossible to do any work on the net. I m thinking of changing to some other operator now. TATA should really change this new plan or i m sure they will lose many customers!

    I have tried unlocking the modem and removing the plastic piece that is inserted in the sim slot. But was unable to get my reliance cdma sim to work in the same. Dunno if the slot is faulty or some other issue. But it did not work after enabling RUIM.

    1. Tata CC didnt responded after 9 Jan. This itself is proof of their cheating. Still we all cant do anyhting against this kind of things in India.


    2. Tata in new Reliance after nano....
    Tata gave same car to some people for 1 lakh to claim that he sucedded in creating a 2500$ car. The same car is sold then for 1.4 lakh.

    So either he is cheating new nano customers for 40,000 or he just gave 40,000 rebate to register his name in successful CEOs of India. If he didnt gave the nano in 1 lakh to some people then he could be dubbed as failed CEO.

    3. Does Tata means that everybody use upto 5GB only for the unlimited plan. Upto 7GB, another 2GB they will give you as extra bheekh.


    I am not sure but my Tata Photon plus always gave upto 18K (I use Bittorrent and it shows max speed it atains 18K for last 10 months and even in Jan). However since jan, my browsing speed seems to be decreased. Also the net disconnects every 30 min of non-usage (browsing). This is done to stop people from downloading using torrents. Their CC confirmed this over phone.

    only way is to sign a petition mail.. there are some sites which give free petition services.. and make a mass petition movement.. send to all your email contacts, mention the cause clearly to them and ask let them help you..
    send a copy to TRAI, one to Ministry of Telcom, and one to News Channel like NDTV..

    TATA Photon is CDMA EVDO service whereas Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel etc are GSM-3G service. The two are not compatible. In India other than TATA other CDMA-EVDO providers are Reliance CDMA, BSNL CDMA and MTS (under cloud due to recent Supreme court order on 2G).

    The data card is network locked. You need technical expert to unlock the card. Even after that, in case of CDMA, the RUIM does not hold the data PRL except for OMH RUIMs. So you need an unlocked data card that supports reading PRL from RUIM and an OMH RUIM. In all probability your R-CDMA RUIM is not an OMH RUIM (what the retailers normally call as Diamond SIM with a diamond marking on the pack)

    I bought Tata Photon plus in up to 1.6 year used and clearly i paid every month no pending. my first plan 10GB used and after change the plan of 950 Unlimited. It means till 5 GB (Download and Upload) I will get speed of 3.1 Mbps (Which by of course I never get). I get speed is very poor around 0.05mbs - 0.10 mbs (mega bits per seconds) till 5 GB. After this my speed changes into reduce continues time for 15 to 155 kbps. In this way I got 144 kbps or 15 kBps (kilo Bytes per seconds). I pay Rs 950/- per month for this plan.

    My getting the same problem. But for closing this connection I need to pay 963/- again which I don’t think needs to pay by now because of this forgery or cheating for customer care.

    Hello,

    My Tata Photon Plus Number: 09244221433

    I bought Tata Photon plus in up to 1.6 year used and clearly i paid every month no pending. my first plan 10GB used and after change the plan of 950 Unlimited. It means till 5 GB (Download and Upload) I will get speed of 3.1 Mbps (Which by of course I never get). I get speed is very poor around 0.05mbs - 0.10 mbs (mega bits per seconds) till 5 GB. After this my speed changes into reduce continues time for 15 to 155 kbps. In this way I got 144 kbps or 15 kBps (kilo Bytes per seconds). I pay Rs 950/- per month for this plan.

    My getting the same problem. I can't even search something in google!I have a postpaid 950 5 gb unlimited plan. yesterday, i downloaded a need 71 mb file and guess what, it took me more then 6 hrs!!!! my average down speed is i think about 1.5 kbps!! I called the customer care and they said i have crossed the 5 gb excess , so the speeds are now upto 32 kbps from 155 kbps and that my max speed will be retained , i.e my next billing cycle.. Now i really can't handle this speed for 4 more days. When the speeds were capped to 155 kbps, we could atleast browse, now, its almost impossible to do any work on the net. I m thinking of changing to some other operator now. TATA should really change this new plan or i m sure they will lose many customers!

    How came they change their plan like this? It is completely insane and I would say it is against their policy to change the plan in middle. Even if you change the plan then admit I can definitely close this.

    My billing cycle is 07/05/12 of months and 24th is last date of payment. I’m getting this problem since 3, may, 2012. I already paid my bill of this month. But for closing this connection I need to pay 963/- again which I don’t think needs to pay by now because of this forgery or cheating for customer care.

    My request is if anyone has advice to file this case of forgery against Tata Photon, please tell me.
