Default Tata Photon Plus speed issue

I live in Pune, Maharashtra. I am using Tata photon plus. The speed I am getting is 80-100 KBps. Its very slow. I was promised 3.1 MBps. I know that's not possible in India. But I am expecting at least 500 Kbps.

    My photon number is 9271678431

Is Photon max good? If yes, can I exchange it with my Photon plus?

Unhappy Re: Tata Photon Speed issue

I live in Navi Mumbai, and am also getting 60-100 kbps with Tata photon Plus. I lodged a complaint with the company, they tell me it is a Radio Frequency problem in the area I live, since the reception from the nearest cell towers are blocked by high rise buildings.

I have only recently signed up for the service, and am not sure what I can do under the circumstances. Can anyone please advise?

    @gee2- thanks for replying.

Network coverage issue is unsolvable. If only Tata Photon decided to place new tower in your area, then this issue may be solved. As per now, I have tested my Tata photon plus in various areas in Pune with no luck. But my friends from Mumbai are getting good speed there (Ghatkopar) about 200 - 300 KBps. I think you should call Tata photon customer care. Or purchase a USB extension cable and try different places in your home.

same **** speed like 50-80kB/s in nerul... very few lucky foton users get speed over 1mbps

80-100kB/s wat u r getting is 640-800kbps... more than yr expected 500kbps anyway

& it wud b wrong to say tat 3.1mbps is nt possible in india... use reliance 3G, they giv 8-10mbps, tested in bombay & kolkata... & they giv 15GB unlimited @ 1300/- & various other cheaper plans

y do ppl use foton anyway.... neither they r fast nor they r cheap

@ sadhu_s60 I bought it a year and half ago. Then it was cheapest and was reliable. I did some search on web also. Now regretting. Anyways I take back my words "I was promised 3.1 MBps. I know that's not possible in India." If that hurt your feelings.

Yea, I too have the same issue. Such a great they are ! They assured 3.1 mbps speed and i expected atleast 256kbps but its too too low. Speedtest.net result shows the speed as 0.03mbps.

    Hi Kumarkarun,
As I mentioned above I am getting 80-100kBps speed.(which is 0.7 Mbps sometimes 1 Mbps) As you mentioned 0.03 Mbps means you are getting 3 kBps, this is very slow speed. I think you have made mistake in units. It's speed of old Dial up connections. My BSNL 2G SIM has 20kBps speed. You must call TATA PHOTON customer care or stop using that data card. You are wasting your money on that datacard.

Compare us......check your speed again or get rid of that datacard!
    you me
    Mbps 0.03 0.7
    kBps 3 80

    Hi sunny dole,

I occasionally use mobile gprs, i think the speed of my tata photon plus is equal to the mobile gprs.

so , I asked the customer care they said ,

Its because of poor network coverage...

    but i don't think so.

Because i am getting 60-70 % of network for photon plus(not for photon whiz) connection.

I don't know what do to..

Kumararun, sell your data card. Switch to another operator.

    90% + is good range.

I am using photon+ in Kharadi pune and receive network upto 97% . However download speed is max 300Kbps which is pathetic. Worse if we call customer care then they say their policy is that if someone getting speed of 256Kbps or more then they will put that as good speed and no action required. What is the point of selling a datacard which supports upto 3.1Mbps however in reality their policy is minimum 256Kbps and max what i heard is 1.5Kbps only in some cases

Unfortunately this is the sad reality all over the world. The minimum guarantee is too low and everything is advertised as upto so and so speed meaning it could be dead slow and they can still call it upto 3.1mbps.

Have you tried speed at night? It could be network congestion.

i use photon max in delhi area and i get different speeds within my house. the speed varies from 150kbps to 4mbps and what i have noticed is that the speed is very stable at night and in early morning. but its wireless connection and predicting its speed is difficult..
Try changing the location of ur device and see if it makes any difference in speed..

photon max is different than photon+ in terms of frequency band they use . Anyway thanks for the advise.

i just gave u an example of tata's device and their Tard services.
Theres no point in calling their customer support they will ask u to do a speed test or sonething and if u even get their least promised speed they will be happy in it and say ther's no problem

That is true. No amount of complaining would help. Choose the companu whose network is not congested.
