Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd (TTML) on Thursday launched its GSM services under the Tata DoCoMo brand in Maharashtra. TTML is a subsidiary of Tata Teleservices Ltd. (TTSL) in which Japan’s NTT DoCoMo has a 26 % stake.

TTML has spent over Rs. 1,000 crore on its 3G-ready GSM network and has GSM spectrum for 18 out of the country’s 22 telecom circles. It is awaiting spectrum for Assam, the northeast, West Bengal and Delhi circles.

Tata DoCoMo announced a range of products and innovative tariff options and introduced the ‘Pay-per-use’ advantage which allows the consumer to pay only for the seconds utilised.

As an introductory offer, across Mumbai and Maharashtra, Tata DoCoMo is offering a Lifetime plan at one paise per second for calls across India. Consumers can also avail themselves of ‘Pay-for-three and get 100 SMS free’ offer every day. For the first time, international calling is also available on a per-second billing model. A variety of post-paid plans designed for a range of consumer requirements are also available.

Mukund Govind Rajan, Managing Director, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), said, “The launch of Tata DoCoMo GSM mobile service is a momentous occasion for all of us”. The first customers of Tata DoCoMo, who were handed over complimentary lifetime connections at the launch event, were the Pune-based Krushnaa Patil, the youngest girl from Maharashtra to scale Mount Everest, and Pooja Chopra, Femina Miss India World 2009.

TATA DOCOMO has been offering their services in Tamilnadu, AP, Kerala, Karnataka and Orissa at these rates for some time now.
