Default TATA DOCOMO launched pay-per-character SMS service

Tata Docomo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices, yesterday launched a short messaging service (SMS), called Diet-SMS, which enables customers to pay on a per-character basis. "The cost of any Diet-SMS will be only one paise per character used, thereby providing complete value to customers," Tata Docomo said in a statement.

The company will not charge for space between words.

Tata Docomo presently offers services in eight circles.

this plan is worthless, according to this plan, each message costs 1.49rs per sms if fully used, where as in vodafone its 2paise per sms no matter how many characters you use in an sms,

I think so too. I didn't think it to be great at all with that kind of service. Imagine you're gonna be charged for every character that you use? Even if you say spaces, that's still a lot! Charging per text is more economical than that.
