Rep Power: 0 | Hi there I have booked the Tatasky+ Set top box more than a week back. I was promised that it would be delivered on the next working day itself. At the most within 2-3 working days. Brilliant!! Today almost 7 working days later i have yet to see the end of the tunnel. The helpline exec says the delay is dur to unavailibility of the STB. Then why accept orders? they have already chrged the amount to my credit card and now whenever i call, they give no replies but say ' the system is being upgraded' I have a good mind to demand a refund BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE YOU ORDER anand divan |

Rep Power: 12 | After the bombardment of too numerous to count DTH services in India recently, now it is the turn for the next step and that is the premium DTH services. This was actually very much expected in the very distant future but Tata Sky has beaten others on this front and has introduced their new DTH service targeting those who have been looking for a plus to their existing pretty ordinary DTH services. And thus they have launched this service with a plus and hence named it as Tata Sky Plus. What is that “plus” in the Tata Sky Plus that sets it apart from other services other than the vast difference in the payment front. And the pluses, according to the Tata Sky, are that you can pause, rewind, and record the live TV or any TV programs that you watch through them. Haven’t you heard it elsewhere, yes you would have heard the same from Windows XP Media Center PCs some time back where they had mentioned about pausing live TV and viewing it again later. But this time it is the turn of Tata Sky DTH to offer this service but with a slightly premium price. In India they have launched this service targeting those ever crazy cricket fans that used to have fights with the fellow family members on who controls the remote especially during cricket matches. Now with this Tata Sky Plus you don’t have to rue over missing up an important cricket match or any TV shows for that matter. Now with Tata Sky Plus, you can pause the live TV if you had to attend any telephone call or visitors on the door and can come back and continue from where you left off with one press of a button in your remote. With the recording of the live TV, you can record any TV programs if two programs from different channels coincide at the same time. You can record either one of the show and watch it later. There is an option of recording up to two live shows on TV at a time while you watch any other shows. And also you can set the automatic recording of any of the shows at particular time and watch it later. You can actually rewind your live TV or for that matter any shows that you watch through Tata Sky Plus if you had missed any important scenes, just like you do it on your DVD player, etc. All these options are available at the special remote control that will come along with the Tata Sky+ digital receivers. The big drawback of this service is that you cannot watch it from your existing set-top boxes but will need to buy a special DTH set top box called digicomp from them. Hence the existing Tatasky users will need to buy or replace your existing set-top box with the new digicomp and enjoy these special services from them. For the new users you will need to buy the digicomp along with the regular Tatasky dish and other accessories for a premium price of Rs. 8999 plus installation charge of Rs. 1000. The package subscription actually starts from Rs. 99 per month. At present this service of Tata Sky+ is available only at select cities that include all major metros in India. |

| i think its a matter of personal choice whether one would want to invest the amount or not. They're introducing this whole new feature which i personally find tempting coz its something new plus extremely useful i may say. iM presently working and cant catch up on any evening shows that i love, but with this i can manage to follow up fav stuff on tv, plus the added advantage of no arguments over tv anymore.. I would not mind it, but again as i said its a personal choice. |

| Platinum Member | TataSky+ is an option that can allow you to record programs, pause live TV, etc. But according to me, it is too costly for the common man in India. I have no idea about the quality of recording. |

| Platinum Member | yes the service is very good n all... but the main question: when does anything good even airs on the telly when u wud want to record one thing while watching something else!! even a single good thing is a rarity these days, when will u find two things simultaneously, or even one if u wanna record for a later time... |

Rep Power: 0 | U see, its not just about the price. U might think 9000 is alot, but you must see what all you're getting for it. I have Tata Sky Plus and I love it. Firstly, its cheaper for existing subscribers (like me). Secondly, pausing a cricket match or a TV show when some idiot decides to call you or you need to go to the bathroom is unbelievable. Thirdly, rewinding TV to watch those moments that you missed or wanna hear something again is great too. Fourthly, if you have ever seen the back of the Tata Sky Plus box, you would notice it has 2 cable inputs, 1 USB port and component inputs. If you're remotely aware, this has everything to do with HD video. I have clarified with Tata Sky, and this box is the same box that you can use for using HD Video whenever that service starts. So you may be investing heavily now, but its only one time. Hope this helps people who are looking to buy Tata Sky Plus also. |
