Default Tata Sky cuts price of personal video recorders

New Delhi, Sept. 11 Tata Sky has slashed the price of its personal video recorder (PVR) by almost half.

The special promotion offering at Rs 4,900 coincides with one year of the launch of the PVR, also known as digital video recorder (DVR). A PVR allows recording, pausing and rewinding of television programmes.

While IPTV also allows convenient viewing of television, Tata Sky+ is currently the only DVR scheme offered by any DTH (direct-to-home) service.

The offer is open till Diwali. “At Tata Sky, our endeavour has always been to provide maximum satisfaction, world-class experience and true value to all our esteemed subscribers … We hope with this offer, we can further enhance customer experience by providing quality entertainment and greater value for money,” said Mr Vikram Kaushik, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tata Sky.

The company has set itself a target to make the premium product account for 8-10 per cent of all its set-top boxes by next year.

Apart from special programmes in Tata Sky’s value-added services for which it has tied up with Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc and Walt Disney, it is also offering premium channels such as Warner Brothers, TCM, MGM and NDTV Lumiere.

These channels are being offered through a new, ‘Cosmo Pack’ that costs Rs 45. Movies such as Kaminey, Agyaat, Chintuji and Vaada Raha will also be available on demand.Tata Sky cuts price of personal video recorders

    Buddy,

before the promotion, the price for TATA sky+ was 8999 i.e. 9000 + 1000 for installation. total 10000.

now it is 4999 + 1000 for installation. total 6000.
    a 40% drop, not 50%.
though this makes TATA Sky+ a very attractive deal.

    thanks for the info, though,
