    Default Difference in recharge coupons

I remember some time ago, there used to be the credit card sized paper coupons from which you starch off the pin number, but now when going into shops they give you a receipt with the pin number on?

Is there a difference in the two?

No there is no difference, might be they are purchasing the PIN from the internet and then writing it on the receipt.

Isn't it much better and safer to pay for by cheque/credit card?

through the web only credit card or net banking is possible. But yes, its a far more convenient option, provided the service provider ensures prompt implentation of recharge.
