Thread: Views on Tata Sky alliance with Disney

This is the coolest move taken by Tata Sky to provide active series for kids where they can learn alongwith fun, read stories, solve mathematics all of these with their favourite disney characters.:thumbup1:

Is this feature really good? I have a 3.5 year old son & I'm planning to shift to TS or DishTV mainly for educational channels like this. However it will be worth only if it is good.

Just try and check Active services on Dishtv...for kids like playjam, quizzy and games.

OK. So TataSky has tied with Disney. So what next?

What does the user get out of this? More channels? Lower cost?

I feel that this is just a propoganda.

The user will be benefitting from this move as in terms of price it is lesser than the fun learning pack due to which subscriber will not have to opt for an add-on pack also obtain the features of an add-on pack at a lesser price :thumbup1:

If your Kid has liking for disney characters this would be the best platform to his education drive.

Still, I don't think that this results into any benefit.

• Cost wise, DishTV is way cheaper.
• Channels' wise, DishTV provides more channels
• Quality wise, TataSky is just a shade better. DishTV = 7/10, TataSky = 8/10, BigTV = 9/10.

Good Comparison Just4kix, and also if you consider regional channels then Tata Sky is way behind Dishtv, Dishtv at present will have around 20-25 more regional channels then Tata Sky and overall if you see dishtv have lot more channels including TV and audio.

Further Active services are very good on dishtv specially the new ones they have launched Monsterjobs Active, Travel Active, ICICI aCTIVE , bHAKTI aCTIVE, Shaadi Active these are really good services.

Price of new pack is Lesser....??????? I think they have merged the two SUPER VALUE PACK AND FUN LEARNING PACK AND IF YOU PRICE IS ALMOST SAME. even they are missing Pogo channels in this new kids....Pack

Individual add-on fun learning pack comes for Rs.30/- pm and the merged Super Value Kids Special Pack pack comes for Rs.25/- pm so the pack is lesser and for channels these are active series with walt disney collaboration to provide best way to exploit studies and learn in a better way for kids.

I have noticed the price which seemed to be lesser and kids having enthusiasm in disney this is just a great option.:crying: I am paid for nothing.

So Their is only a difference of Rs.5 (Great a very huge Discount), Further They have named it Kids Special pack and One most important Kids channel is missing in this That pogo is missing from this pack.....Still you are saying its cheap pack.

I have already said that I have noticed and in comparison it is lesser.

I meant as a joke. Please don't take it seriously.

But I find it amusing that you are going out of your way to praise TataSky. Take everything with a pinch of salt. If TS is charging so heavily, they may as provide some freebies.

There are freebies but in the form of contest held by Tata Sky, winners get loads of goodies.

You have raised a valid point. What does consumer get out of this?
But I also think that you are looking at it from a single dimension. You and I will not play games on Disney. But there are a lot many kids who will. My children kids and all are totally into games either on Tv or on computers. This is predominantly targeted at that audience segment. If I had kids, I would rather have them play games or read stories on Tata Sky rather than watch some trashy reality show. So if you look at it from that angle, the Disney- Tata Sky collaboration does indeed add value. My own niece is crazy about some singer called Hannah Montana, from her pencil box to DVDs , she has all the Hannah Montana merchandise. This is just to give you an idea of how kids are.

But I do have a teenage son and my nephews and nieces are all from the age of 2 to 18. So I do have a wide spectrum to compare from.

What I mean is I am kind of aware of the tastes. My own son hardly ever watches all these quizzes and other such programs on TV. And while I am aware that I can hardly judge the whole teenage community based on my own son, I am not sure whether the Disney programs are going to bring any benefit.

Disney is renowned worldwide tell me a place in this world where they have not heard about mickey and donald this large coverage holds strong impression on children minds.

You are not getting the point. Disney Channel and its cartoons are already being seen on any DTH as well as cable.

What is TataSky bringing to the table that is adding to the content? Please don't go back to Post # 1 and # 7. Otherwise I am going back to Post # 11.

The point is Tata Sky's collaboration by taking disney as a base that induces children to entertainment and converting it into an educational value beneficial for children on the active platform shows Tata and Disney involvement in not only providing fun but in addition a set of involvement that adds recreation in children. Disney channels are being telecasted by other DTH providers but they do not provide quiz, stories apart from the programmes.
