Default Universal remote with Tatasky STB 4 digit code

My friend has been to the US and brought himself a universal remote control. And in order to activate the remote to work with the DVD player, TV etc you need a 4 digit code which is listed in the manual for a majority of companies like LG, Philips etc. He had configured the TV and DVD but having problems in configuring Tata Sky STB. He phoned Tata Sky customer service but they didn't really help and couldn't really answer his query which was strange!

So he has asked me to ask anyone on the forum whether they know what the 4 digit code for Tata Sky STB is, which is required to be able to use the universal remote with the STB.

The link provided has codes:Remotes - Device Codesin case it does not help it is ususally preferred to ask the code from the dealer of remotes to a particular device.

I faced a similar issue with my other universal remotes. The code was not found.

I am having no such problem with my Logitech Harmony one.

The Logitech Harmony One remote does not work on the principle of 4-digit code. It is almost a mini-computer.

The remote connects to the computer via USB. It has a software installation CD. After installing the software, you connect the remote via USB.

The software will ask you all your devices that you own. For example, my devices are:

    1. Type: DVD Player, Make: Pioneer, Model: DV-301K
    2. Type: DVD Player, Make: Sony, Model: BDS-360 (this is a blu-ray player)
    3. Type: TV, Make: Sony, Model: (don't remember)
    4. Type: AV Receiver, Make: Onkyo, Model: TX-DS747
    5. Type: Projector, Make: Panasonic, Model: PT-AE700E

After inputing all the devices, it gets all the required Infra Red codes from the database from the internet. Logitech has created a database of over 300K devices and claim that almost every device can be found.

If by chance, your device is not found, it can learn from the existing remote of that device. The H1 has a receiving window. H1 will ask for the sequence, e.g., Power on/off, channel change, volume change, etc. Point the original remote to the window and press the appropriate key. The code will be stored. You can also report to Logitech that your device is not found and then they will update their database.

The beauty of H1 is that the remote is not restricted for AV devices only. It can control any device that is controlled by IR remotes including Air Conditioners, Light dimmers, motorized projection screen, etc.

Hence I say that the price that you pay for this remote is totally worth it.

Yes. It is very expensive and not meant for the average user. It retails for $249.99 in US and I purchased it only because of a 50% discount that my friend at Logitech gets (the bugger gets them sometimes for free).

I can justify the cost because it allows me to get rid of 6 remotes at once. I forgot to mention that it replaces my DishTV STB remote also.

China made products are ahead in tech they come up with latest technology at much reasonable rate hope they have something of this sort. Only problem with chinese procuts are they don't carry guarantee or else they work fine.
