Tata sky multiroom would work same as your current tata sky box is working the only difference is that you get a new box and will need to pay Rs125 per month for that extra connection in another room of the same house. The box would cost you Rs1500 and then 125 per month will get you all the channels you have subscribed to on the main box.
thanks parminder!!!!
Also there is the offer you can avail Multiroom subscription: a subscription option which allows You to receive the Service on a maximum of three digicomp in addition to Your Primary Digicomp, under the same Subscriber ID, installed at the same address at which the Primary Digicomp has been installed. The box would not cost Rs1500/- All Existing Subscriber activations on the second, third and fourth digicomp are entitled to a 100% discount on the Standard Installation charges of Rs 500 per digicomp.
OK I dont know where you get your info from but TATA SKY are rip offs...
I got a call from tata sky asking me if I needed a multi room thing and I asked them how much would it cost and stuff the girl said it will be Rs1500 for the box and installation is free and I said its ok send it over then.
Today morning tata sky guys turn up and no1 they took 1599 rs instead of 1500. I have the bill and no2 they used about 12 metres of cable and asked me for an extra 200rs saying extra cable has been used.. I have got an old tata sky connection and an airtel dth connection and no one ever asked me for extra cable charges even tata guys didint and I know for sure that the cable used was not more then 12 metres.
I objected to the box charges of 1599 and said I was promised 1500 but he goes then you get an old box and I just said to myself that I can be doing something more productive then arguing with this sick tata employee over Rs99 and I refused to pay excess charges he was asking for for the cable and he left... I dont know for sure if they would add it on my account or what.
Tata sky is a rip off...
Installation Free Offer : DTH – Tata Sky DTH in India, Leading Satellite Television Provider in India, DTH service by Tata Sky I check the offers and promotions for information.
Infact I went to check the site after my friend booked through helpdesk and the sales team were very helpful they informed her about the installation offer.
You mean to say that The customer don't have to pay for 2nd, 3rd and 4th digicomp, That means they have to pay only Rs.1599 as installation is free and can get up to four connection in that Rs.1599.
I don't think so...........I think you first understand the concept of Multiroom Connection and about their pricing structure......
You are misleading people by saying that set top box comes free for multi room...
Set top box is chargeable and you pay for one for every extra tv so if you have for 3 tvs at your place you pay for 3 boxes but only pay one installation charge that is if applicable as installation for extra rooms is waved off for multi room subscribers.
Go through the offer thoroughly I have mentioned from the site details:Installation Free Offer : DTH – Tata Sky DTH in India, Leading Satellite Television Provider in India, DTH service by Tata Sky
Well this is making me not get the multiroom now! Im having seconds thoughts!!!
Maybe its best to get something in writing from Tata Sky this means!!
Let me get this straight that the Rs1500 you pay is only for the set top box......right?
Where on the website it has mentioned that you have to pay Rs.500 for 2nd connection.
Just go through the site once again. No where its mentioned. Don't spread wrong information.
As far As i Know In Tata Sky:
First Connection: Rs.1599/- (Stb) + Subscription + Rs.1000(Installation- Which is free till 25 Dec)
For Second Connection: Rs.1599 (Stb) + Subscription + Rs.500 (Installation- Which is free till 25 Dec)
So can yopu tell us where we find Tata Sky 2 nd STB in just Rs.500

Ok so this is confusing.....Parminder said he had to pay Rs1599 and vaishaliv is saying its only Rs500 for an additional connection..........I think Parminder has given the wrong amount as in excess money to Tata Sky...........
@ Parminder - you should claim the money back!!!
I know what you are here for on this forum and this is the last warning to you. Do not spread roumours and lies around here to gain a milage over other DTH providers.
I just got a new multiroom connection and I had to pay Rs1599 although the call centre girl said to me I would have to pay Rs1500.
I didint find anything saying about Rs500 on Tata sky website.
If you still believe that there is something in this regard I will be happy to get my 1099 Rs back and pay 500 only. Take a screen shot of what you are talking about and I will sue Tata sky for ripping me off and file a class action suit as well so every one on this forum can benefit from it as well.
If it would only cost Rs500 for multi room thinggy I would start a new business today itself by getting a new multi room connection at Rs500 and then selling the box at Rs1400-1500 as people would be more then willing to buy from me as they would still get it cheaper by a few hundred rupees and there is no restriction on where you get the box from as long as it is tata... returns on my investment would be 100% for every sale.
How long would it take for tata sky to go bankrupt if we start this business at a large scale or say just covering Newdelhi? even if created a network of housolds who would order multiroom pay Rs500 and sell the box to me for 600 and then I sell it for say 800 to new customers ? This business would grow at such a rapid pace that Tata's would be sitting on multi million dollar losses within days.
As far as I know it means having an extra box in the same house where you already have a Tata Sky connection. The multi room service, gives you an extra STB which can be placed in another room of the house and you can view different programmes on different tv's then!
Multi-room means extra connections in the same home.
Many people have multiple TVs at home (I myself have three). When you subscribe to DTH (or CAS/Cable with STB), and if you have parallel connections, you can watch only one channel at a time - pretty much akin to having a telephone with parallel connections.
But if you wish to watch, say Star TV on one TV, and Zee TV on another TV, then you need multiple connections. All DTH providers have come with a scheme known Mutli-room or equivalent. Under this scheme:
- more than one connection at the same address
- the limit is 4 connections max
- the first connection is known as the MASTER connection and you have to pay the full subscription charges for the selected packages
- the 2nd/3rd/4th connections are known as child connections and the price for each child connection is a fraction of the full connection charges
- child connections get the same package as the master
- child connections are usually not permitted on a master connection where subscription is for a basic package only - you may need to subscribe to a large package
- each connection comes with an independent STB so that you can watch different channels on the different TVs at the same time
I have subscribed to two multi-room subscription from DishTV. TataSky charges Rs. 125 for each child connection.

This is the exact wordings under terms and conditions:
(“Offer”) can be availed of by both New and Existing Tata Sky subscribers (hereinafter referred to as “You”) wherein, You can: Purchase a Tata Sky digicomp during the Offer Period for Rs 1,599 and get a complete waiver on the Standard Installation charges of Rs 1,000 in case of a primary connection and Rs 500 in case of a multiroom connection.
so Rs 500 is the waiver amount in case of a multiroom connection. My bad I forgot to put not in the above statement:*EXISTING subscriber will not have to pay Rs.500 on installation for a multiroom connection.
So its not a bad deal then, but I think I would only got for it after some thought..........because Parminder has had to pay Rs1599 for his multi room connection!
The offer is on installation, Rs.1599/- is the Digicomp (hardware) price, so Parminder has been rightly charged for his hardware and availed Free installation.
Yeh yeh rightly charged.... I was told Rs1500 over the phone and then asked to shell out 1599.
It doesnt matter if tata sky pimps shout their throughts hoars over this but I would only go by what I was told over the phone its upto tata sky to keep their staff informed.
Tata sky customer service and sales team sucks.
Could anyone guide on how to unsubscribe from tata sky multi room. I have been charged for multi room charges without ever having subscribed to it. Just because I had a few hundred rupees to my credit one fine day i started getting debited for multi room. The other day even though I had subscribed to annual mega pack my connection got deactivated just because multi room charges were running into negative. Pls advise what should I do??
You will have to talk to customer care/billing.
