    Default New Tata Sky Remote

My friend got a new connection for Tata Sky and and when I saw her remote i laughed! Tata Sky have a new remote well you cant call it a new remote but instead a miniature!

Its exactly the same but smaller in size, i would say less than half the size of the original size. I was wondering why this has happened......Tata Sky is saving money and charging the same amount of money.

Another change I saw is that they have a new box which is now black in color and apparently have MPEG 4 technology.

Personally i dont see much of a different in the clarity..........anyone else see any difference with the new Tata Sky box they provide with the MPEG 4 technology?

Well, how many times does one have to repeat that MPEG4 is not better that MPEG2?

And in any case, the new TS black STB is MPEG4 compliant. But TataSky has not switched to MPEG4 as yet - they may sooner or later but right now they are still on MPEG2. If TS switches to MPEG4, all existing customers with MPEG2 STB's (silver-gray STB) will be unable to view - or TS may have to keep MPEG2 and MPEG4 transmission at the same time and that will be cost prohibitive.

MPEG4 STBs are also backward compatible with MPEG2.

What about Tata Sky Plus, is that MPEG4 ready? Can you post the pic of the remote as a comparison of the new and old remote together?

    TataSky + is MPEG4 ready.

And what is the fascination about remotes? A remote is a remote.

Its not the fascination, just the fact that when my cousin (male and who is quite big in size) wasn't properly able to actually select the right channel number, quite funny, but I think annoying for him if he was to get the new remote at his home!

I personally felt that the TS remote was a tad too big. Also agreed that remote should not be too tiny.

I also have a new box with the smaller remote and I have no got used to it and like it better then the old ones... At first it did feel awkward as we are all used to the large buttons and all but I feel the smaller one is pretty nice actually..

Does anyone know where I can get a new remote for tata sky because one of the old ones has its battery cover broken and has a rubber band on it to keep it from falling out all the time and it is very annoying.
