If such a function is brought on the DTH platform it may even stand more competitive than PC's.

It will give a new utility for the dth and will bring a boom in sales. It might have a trifold sales because everyone would be looking out for TV+internet.

Clearly such an implementation is not feasible and may not be available for many years to come. Additionally there would be licensing issues for DTH operators becoming ISP as well.

No DTH provider is providing internet via satellite dish - not just in India - anywhere in the world.

Exactly, c'mon guys its a useless discussion. For internet you need both uplink and downlink. On dth you can ONLY download data not upload so clearly its not possible.

Talking In US I have used satellite internet along with DTH TV connection.

Even as early as 2002 DTH providers in US offered broadband internet combined with TV package.
Very fast -no tower-uplink direct to stationary satellite in the sky.but not always consistent (during rain/snow)then.
Now ADSL 3G broadband thro telephone/cable company's are bundled .
    ATT and others offer
land line+ADSL internet+mobile phone voice +mobile data broadband + TV all in one combo.
So Airtel ,Reliance,Tata sky can rock the boat (existing2g/3g cartels) if priced aggressively. just day dreaming!

There were some experimental deployments for remote areas scotland where DTH system was used for download and a mobile was used for upload facility. but not sure if it ever was launched commercially.
