Exclamation Has picture quality deteriorated recently??

I want to know whether picture quality has deteriorated recently as is being reported by some members in another forum, especially in Discovery science, or not??
I have now just decided to go in for it after considering various other services and spending a lot of time on it.

Now just waiting till 10th to see whether the espn star sports issue of being blacked out around that date is gonna happen or not. Article Window It will suck if that happens though.

    Please provide your valuable inputs...

I have been using Tata Sky since December 2006 and I have a second multiroom connection too.

The picture quality has been the same and I think once the HD set top box is available,it will be the best bet,but I guess we will have to buy full HD Screens.

( Sorry !! ) I am going off topic:As of now I am using CRT televisions and as times passes I hope to switch over to HD when Tata Sky launches the HD set top box.

The picture quality has not changed at all in the channels I watch, which are generally,Star Movies,HBO and sometimes Sony Pix and CNN IBN.

I haven't really made out the distortion in the Discovery Science channel, maybe I'll switch on the TV and check out the channel.Maybe I am used to watching a few channels, without even realizing that some of them are not so clear.

Offtopic: Till then, hope Tata Sky launches FULL HD soon hope in a year or two.But again the STB will cost a lot,but I guess it is worth the wait.

( Only an example ) Tata Sky is expensive and they have different packs which is like going to a shop and then you buy a nice music system and you have to buy speakers separately, cassette player separately,cd player separately and finally you have to pay monthly to play music.

Please go ahead and buy it if you can, because the after sales service is good and it may be more expensive (for the subscription) than its competitors.

The second option would be Airtel DTH.

    Hope this helps.

    Aditya.

Thanks for the re aditya can you please just watch the science channel more closely for me and report??

today i saw both airtel and ts... i could not see any difference in the picture quality though the stb of airtel was slower... the ui is however better of airtel. but they are very sluggish at adding channels even on addons... no discovery science yet. and many have reported their rain fade lasts longer and is more frequent than tata sky.. now i don't know how many factors would be involved on a case to case basis, but as their package prices come out to be nearly equal to that of ts, especially after adding the cost of the second stb (addons are not free and 160 base price).. i've got little to budge towards it.

secondly, the cheapest dth that is videocon currently (probably only cause its new), their stb itself consumes around 30-50 watts even on standby ...as has been found out by a guy who went into its technical details, so little wonder that it will end up adding around 200-250 bucks to my electricity bill as i'm getting 2 stbs. so much for the cheap option.

    guys please post..!

and ya they would be going hd very soon but just hoping they don't end up compressing their sd transmission even more to make way for that.

to see the real "DIFFERENCE" in clarity and color rendition you must connect you STB to your display with component cable or HDMi(on lcd's and plasma if your stb features HDMi port) because normal yellow colored composite cable sucks to the core i have 2 tvs in home 1 Sony CRT and 1 Samsung Lcd with reliance BIG TV connection and in both i use component connection to test this thing connect you tv with component and composite yellow cable and see the difference, color rendition and resolution in component is just mind blowing.
