I called up Tata sky after reading a thread that said Tata sky HD box for Rs2500 something and what do I find? Tata sky call centre guys dont even have a clue about it... I spoke to a supervisor and he said booking has not started yet for the HD boxes and there is no time frame yet.
This is going to take some time... Tata sky testing HD? thats bullshit! Sky has been providing HD channels abroad and Tata sky and sky are one and the same thing with no difference in technology.
Tata sky only announced this 2500 thing to stop Dish tv's HD STB sales... Tata just tried to put a dent in Dish tv and SUN DTH's HD STB sales.
Prove me wrong by providing me a tata sky hd boxThere was a slogan I created a while ago... Gali gali mein shor hai Ratan Tata.... The Tata bitches just stopped the advance of Dish TV's stock price which had a break out a few days ago...
It's a good move from Tata teleservices!
Now the customers of tata sky too will enjoy HD!
Not true, I had spoken to a tata sky rep on the 17th after reading about their newly launched HD service, my call was forwarded to a supervisor who told me wait for two days as according to him the service had been announced but would be officially launching after a couple of days only.. he told me he'll give me a callback as soon as he had confirmation of the launch.
Yesterday(18th jun) I received the callback and the rep told me I could order the box as they were now in stock and officially available, watching world cup match highlights on ESPN HD as I type this
Channels available right now are ESPN HD, Discovery HD World and NatGeo HD..according to the tata sky rep Star plus HD, Star Movies HD and Fox HD will also be launching very soon.
Any info. about the bitrates of these HD channels? Also, does TataSky have their crappy large logo on the HD channels too?
I am an existing Tata Sky subscriber and I almost got sucked into buying Dish True HD Box since the Tata Sky HD boxes were not available in Kolkata. Better sense prevailed and I waited a couple of days till I got hold of a Tata Sky Dealer from my friends resources. I am getting my Tata Sky HD Box on 28.06.2010 at Rs. 2600/- the promised price less refund of Rs. 500/- for my old box plus free transfer of my annual super saver pack and of course there will be no extra charges on HD Channels for existing Tata Sky customers for a year.
The picture quality of ESPN STAR Sports on my Sony Bravia 40" with Normal Tata Sky connection is brilliant, I really don't know why I need an HD Box at all since it is in teething stages
Tata Sky has Neo cricket so no way am i shifting to Dish TV and missing out on the 5 test matches involving coming up this year
Every time i download a pirated movie from the torrent sites its in mpeg4 I don't know what are Airtel jumping about

did you even read my earlier post!!?
I called up tatasky on the 17th and was told that the service had not officially launched and that tatasky will give me a call back when the HD stb's were available.. on 18th morning I got my callback from the same guy with whom I had talked on the 17th and I booked my HD box paid the money through IVR, the install guys came to my house on the 19th morning and did the installation. So you see I'm watching ESPN HD through the HD box!!
Also would like to add first two days ESPN HD was broadcast for 24hrs ie all their programming was availble, but now they are only showing the world cup matches.
I hope this answers all your questions!
