    Unhappy TATA SKY in Laptop

Guys I'm in a great fix.
Yesterday I bought Tata sky. I was hoping to watch it on my Laptop (HP Pavilion dv6114tx). I don't have a TV set.
After the technician from Tata sky set up my set top box, I connected the RF out put of Set top box with my RF input of Hauppauge TV Tuner card. I already installed all the necessary drivers and WinTV appilication. But after the scanning WinTv application did not detect any channels. The technician told me that the settop box is working perfectly.
I also have Windows media centre. But when I tried to scan for TV signals in windows media center nothing happens. There is no channel.
Now the TV tuner card is not faulty because when I connect it with local cable, I receive all the channels. Here is the picture of my TV Tuner card.

The settop box has one composite video out, one RF out.
The technician told me that TATA sky do work with TV tuner cards. But they don't have any experience with Laptop TV tuner cards They told me that Desktop computer users connect the set top box via the composite video out. but my hauppauge TV tuner card has only RF input. I also tried to connect the the set top box via a cable which has a RCA lead and and other end RF lead. But without any success. Now there are TV cards available with RCA connections should I buy those and try with that?

I searched every where on internet. But did not find a solution.
Now please tell me what should I is wrong with my set up.

from my knowledge, very sorry to tell you that with that TV tuner card u can't view TATA sky, because to get the signal from a set top box you will need composite input in TV tuner card.
solution is to exchange the present TV tuner card with an external USB TV tuner card with composite input.it is very cheap, will cost around Rs 1500-2500.
i know you will be very angry and disappointed, but these kinds of compatibility issues happen with newer technology.
so all the best.and also congratulations on buying that TATA SKY satellite connection.
    cheers.

Sorry to disappoint you but I solved the problem myself. I just needed a RF in/ out cable. I connected the TV tuner card with the set top box using RF cable. Its working fine. Im watching Tata sky in Windows Media Centre.

I don't think your laptop has a built in TV Tuner Card. Give your complete model number. You have to use an external USB TV tuner card.

In DTH there are two outputs for the television.
    1) Composite cable (Three cable --> video,Right speaker,Left speaker)
    2) RF cable ..

When we use composite cable the TV should be changed to AV mode.

and if we use RF cable the output will be set to our first channel. say channel no 1.

So. we can use RF cable and if we need to change channel we have to use DTH remote it

I have installed the external tv tuner with my laptop using the composite input and RF cable and connected them to my tata sky. Now after scanning the channels its showing 1/160 and the online tv screen shows blue image and nothing else. I have scanned using antenna option. Please let me know if I did something wrong.
