Thread: Tata Sky HD Channels

I have seen the thread http://www.indiabroadband.net/tata-s...-a.html...good (Tata Sky launches HD service for Rs 2,599) news for Tata Sky customers!

But I am unable to find out what all channels are available in the HD packs!!!

If anyone knows please post the details.

Currently 2 - NatGeo HD and Dicovery HD. Others such as Star Plus HD, Star Movies HD, etc. will be added soon.

@all, It is better to wait before signing up HD services. Let more channels get added.

As far as I know only Discovery HD World, National Geographic HD broadcast in HD the other channels are upsacled!

I got Tata sky HD box yesterday and only get two channels :

Discovery HD World

National Geographic HD

It cost me Rs2599 and that comes with a years HD channels subscription included.

HD and good picture quality and all that is all good but I hate the new interface that comes with HD box
I am not sure if I would use this HD thing for long because switching from one channel to the other is a lot of clicks on the remote and another thing I noticed is that this new crappy HD box remote has to be pointed right towards the box for it to work unlike the older box remotes which worked fine at an angle as well... Watching TV has now become more like a gym workout.

New Tata sky HD box remote control and the interface are a big let down. Tata sky only beam two channels as opposed to 6-7 by other DTH providers.

You should not dispair. NatGeo HD and Discovery HD are the only TRUE HD channels in India amongst all broadcasters. The rest are event based such as FIFA WC 2010, Wimbledon 2010 or upconverted (upscaled) pseudo-HD channels.

@ J4K - but what about the DTH providers they are providing other HD channels too are they not? I heard that SunTV has 4-5 HD channels...

I have overcome the remote control problem The remote control from the old box works fine with the new box and does not need to be pointed directly in line of sight with the box... works with minor obstructions

It would be nice to get some more true HD channels The two they show now are pretty good as far as picture quality is concerned ... cant say much about the sound as I don't have external speakers hooked on to the TV.

Would be nice to watch Common wealth games on HD

Any news on when there will be other channels on HD?

Even on other services, the Hindi/Regional Language HD channels are not true HD channels.
