    Default Which provider to choose?

I am moving back to India in a couple of months. I'm not sure which provider to choose. I do have an HD TV. I watch a lot of European football. I have always been a fan of Sky (not the Sky TV contents but the clarity and the likes), be it BSkyB, TataSky or DirecTV.

With the current market in India, which service provider gives the best service and clarity? With HD channels becoming the "way to go" now, do you think it is wise to wait for few more months (may be until end of this year, but I lose half of the European football season) before I decide?

They do have DishTV now back home, is it worth to shift to TataSky right away, as I have never liked Dish. I don't like their service and their boxes usually respond way too slow on the remote AND the TV guide when compared to DirecvTV (here in US) makes me sick.

    Thanks for all your help

I am not using any satellite disk, but I have heard that TataSky has the problem of changing channel, many peoples have take but they don't like it now. I dont know about dish TV but I suggest u to go for Reliance BigTV, I have seen that it was good, it has a lots of movie channel of its own.
But before taking take suggestions of other people also.

If you are a sports fan and love watching sports channels it is best to use Airtel Digital Tv it is cheapest and the best compared to tatasky and dish tv

At the moment, HD services in India are in the nascent stage. ESPN is showing only FIFA WC Football in HD - rest of the times the channel is blank. Same is true for Star Sports HD which is showing only Wimbledon. NatGeo HD and Discovery HD are the only true 24 hr HD channels.

The rest of Hindi HD channels are not true HD - just upscaled content.

With that in mind, the best bet for you in terms of PQ is still BigTV and TataSky in my opinion. But BigTV has big problems when it comes to customer support. TS is very costly - in fact the costliest. DishTV and Videocon D2H are cheapest. DishTV PQ is OK. No idead about VideoCon. Airtel DTH is somewhere in between all of these on both parameters (cost and PQ).

Not in HD Tata Sky HD rates are quite reasonable infact they have the lowest STB rate yes Tata Sky may be having a high pricing for packages.

Maybe. But you need to subscribe to top-end package first.

Tata Sky HD Gold Pack is at Rs.30/- they have also mentioned upcoming Star channels it would be great if they would include these channels in the same add-on package without change in price.

Well first it depends on what you like to watch, As you said you like to watch european football most...Then i will suggest you to go for Dishtv as they have FIFA in HD and most of the soccer tournament is available on Zee Sports (Indian as well as European). Which is missing on Tata Sky and Bigtv.

Further Dishtv is economical Packages are Good and also i heard that soon they will come up with more HD channels with Zee Sports is one of them.

The ala-carte is subject to 1 year free subscription to existing subscribers and for now there are the only two channels ESPN & Star Sports that can be called True HD as they have HD broadcast other providers that provide other than these two channel as HD upscale them.

I dont watch tv anymore, its bores me, but I would like to know one thing for me mom, since she watches lot of tv, stuff that i hate, hehe, that if we buy any of direct to home stuff, is there any disturbances, someone(he deals with tv and repairs it) said its not for you coz even small lightening/rain, natural stuff, cause lot of disturbance and u have to constantly reposition dish which without knowledge could be hard!
so we didnt buy, is this true!?
can i add one last thing: why is there always cricket on sports channel, I really am not fond of that sport and would like tennis and soccer instead.
