    Tata Sky Satellite TV is off to a great start as far as numbers go, I believe it must have enlisted a record number of people in its few months of existence. But numbers aren’t everything, as the market will start to saturate, customer satisfaction will be the key. But Tata Sky does not seem to realise this, choosing to ignore customers wont get you anywhere. Everywhere when you ask a Tata Sky customer, if he is satisfied, the answer is a straight ‘NO’. But does Tata sky care ? It definitely doesnt seem like it.

    Tata Sky first went wrong when it stopped listening to the consumer, take the whole Neo Sports, Start sports and ESPN for example. None are available in the sports section and cleverly hidden in premium priced packs.
    There has been no improvement, no digital audio channels were added as earlier promised. Little interactive content is present on Tata Sky, personally I don’t prefer to watch stupid star news all the time.

    Then there is the bit about (allegedly) being the most advanced satellite TV service of India. Lets see what we have in India, no Internet, pathetic CD quality picture, Zero Telecast during rain (even if there is no thunder), no Digital Video Recorder, no toll free redressal mechanism, the abuse of the set top box alert system for spamming about Showcase movies etc and the forced adverts on the homescreen whenever you turn it on!

    The customer service number is actually undialable. You have to make an STD call to Chandigarh everytime you have a problem or wish to recharge.

    And what’s with the new so called packs, very cleverly designed by the people at Tata Sky, quietly keeping a few channels out from each pack so consumers are forced to take the whole bouquet. They should make it on a per channel basis also after the packs, so if one channel is missing from a pack, the consumer does not have to upgrade the whole package, but can buy that one channel after paying Rs.5.

    Their website is also not navigable, it has little information and does not work in Firefox, they should probably fire their web designers and sue them for making the pathetic website. To people looking to get a TV service, i recommend waiting for Reliance and other players before taking the plunge !

    When Tata Sky first came on people were happy that their local Cable operator a.k.a. goon wont be able to fleece anymore. True, but little do they realise that Tata Sky is no honest service. They own your dish, the installation warranty expires after one year and then , if their dish gets damaged you will have to pay for it. If wiring gets broken, its absolutely your liability not theirs. (was horrified at the straight denial given by the customer care when I called them for support I was already more than a year with them, instead of praising my loyalty they straightaway refused service saying that since your 1 year warranty is over you will have to bear ALL MAINTENANCE / SUPPORT COSTS. I was really heartbroken and amazed at the kind of treatment done to old customers, where is the loyalty benefit with these guys, nothing. You be loyal to them and they will give you stab at the back when you ask for support!

    Stay away from this nasty service friends…take ANY other company but dont fall into the advertising gimmicks, huge glitter and big names like Amir endorsing it. (Of course I am a big fan of his, but feel pity that he didn’t see this flaw before endorsing the product)

    Whats the use when you cant get support when you need it the most. When you need support after one year..you will be kicked in the stomach!

    Yeah dude
    Tata sky had monopoly for around 2yrs and those guys have developed an Attitude

    But now that Videocon,sun,etc DTH have come most of the tata sky customers are migrating

    My friends Tata sky had some settings problem
    The service guy came to his house,put some settings and gave a "Tata Sky"(official) bill of 450bucks

    Btw Tata is a good company but its companionship with SKY television is ruining it

    The packaging of channels in TataSky is sheer cheating.ET Now in Cosmo pack and NewsX in Lifestyle Gold pack. Can TataSky explain that?...two news channels in two different packs. It seems that TataSky plans to create as many channel packs in order to fleece more money from the customers.

    If it comes to personal experiences I believe that a single non compliance from the companies end may put it in the bad books however my personal experience with Tata Sky has been really good and so also I would say is of many others as I recently read some days back in an article the survey conducted by Hindustan Times about Tata Sky with good service you too should check the article as people have been discussing about it on various blogs and forums.

    Optional packages/ ala carte are followed by every DTH players also TRAI has been intending to implement of choosing individual channels.

    For the rains they also have a Campaign - Free Service till 31st August

    While you may feel that the cost is higher I feel its a good value-for-money which you are paying for.

    I would recommend that you go for AMC to safeguard your interest in the event of unforeseen expenses.

    @Thread starter :

    How would your dish get damaged? How would the wiring develop fault without being tempered with? No company will foot that kind of bill... Try the same kind of call with any other DTH company and you will get the same reply.
    There is no material in your post as far as I can see.. and I believe you have not used any other DTH service yet.
    Internet using your dth dish? It wont happen as it required a telephone line as well and works more or less like a dial up connection.. downstream from the satellite and upstream using the phone line... There are very specific application that run using such a set up but for a home or business user it is useless.

    I appreciate your frustration about one or two things but rest is all baseless. Some one please correct me if I am wrong.

    I agree on one count only, viz., packaging and pricing.

    Yes. TataSky has really created some monster packs and you have to buy the entire pack even if you wanted just one of them.

    Other than that, I would rate TS as better than most others. The PQ is extremely good, maybe 2nd if not first, STB UI is the best, surfing is good (least time lag between channel changes), etc.

    I have seen the same post repeated in many TataSky threads and I also understand the frustration. But some of the expectations are not not justified, e.g., if dish or cable is damaged, the company should repair it free of cost, etc.

    I Disagree..There is All IS WELL with TATA SKY.. TATA SKY IS ALWAYS BEST..I thing Tata Sky is best service ever in Market today..they r real hero Of DTH Industry.
    My personal experience with tata sky is very good and i've no any complaint against tata sky service. The Channel packages are distributed very well u can pick any packege according to ur choice. The Software & Hardware used is very good.
    I thing hardware is very best. none other company can compare tata sky's quality..B coz it's excelllent service & support. Cheers For TATA SKY..!!

    Question tata sky website

    I hope you're aware tatasky has a digital video recorder - tata sky+
    anyway i was more interested in what issues you're facing with their website. What were you trying to do, that you couldnt?

    the thing is that the tatas are ultimately fleecing customers they have some basic pack of about 220 but to get good channels you have to buy add on packs which cost around 30 bucks per pack at the end the total amount is more than 320 rs the cost at which the local cable wallah provides u service.

    Default bad service

    Tata sky has very bad after sales service. Recently, i faced problems with the adapter and remote control. For getting a new remote control, i had to wait for 5 days. Funny thing is that the remotes are not even available with the authorized dealers in the market. Its terrible.
